Job summary

Chicanos Por La Causa, Inc. is seeking a Disabilities and Mental Health Coordinator to oversee disability and mental health services across its Early Childhood Development programs statewide.

The role ensures compliance with ADA, IDEA, and related provisions, coordinating with multiple coordinators and specialists to promote school readiness and a safe learning environment. The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field with at least three years’ experience coordinating services,

Job description

CPLC's Early Childhood Development (ECD) programs are committed to giving every child, regardless of circumstances at birth, an opportunity to succeed in school and life. Provides full-day, full-year early childhood development services to low income children, ages 0-3 years, and their families in educationally-stimulating learning environments. Migrant Head Start program provides full-day, full-year program services to children, ages 0-5 years, of migrant and seasonal farm and agriculture working families where hand-picked and row crops are prevalent.

Position Summary

The Disabilities and Mental Health Coordinator is responsible for the overall coordination of disability and mental health services to children and families enrolled in Early Childhood Development (ECD) programs statewide. Responsible for ECD compliance to and implementation of the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), and other special education provisions in coordination with the Education Coordinator (EC), Child Development Program Services Coordinator (CDPS), Child Care Partnerships Service Manager (CCPSM), Regional Operations Managers (ROM), Center Service Managers (CSM), Education Specialists (ES), Disabilities & Mental Health Specialist (DMHS), Family Service & Engagement Worker Floater Teacher (FSEWFT), Home Visitor (HV), Family Child Care Specialist (FCCS), and Teachers. Promotes school readiness by preparing children and families for school and life success as it relates to this position. Actively supervise children by sight and sound at all times and in all environments. Maintain all health and safety regulations to create an optimum learning environment. Facilitate health practices to keep children safe in the school bus, outdoor and indoor environments.

Minimum Qualifications And Competencies

• Baccalaureate degree in Special Education with a minimum 3 years’ experience coordinating disabilities and mental health services.
• Baccalaureate degree in Early Childhood Development Education with a minimum 3 years’ experience coordinating disabilities and mental health services.
• Baccalaureate degree in Social Services with a minimum 3 years’ experience coordinating disabilities and mental health services.
• Baccalaureate degree in a related field with a minimum 3 years’ experience coordinating disabilities and mental health services.

Preferred qualifications:

• Applicant should possess a strong cross content knowledge base of the Head Start Program Performance Standards and State Regulations pertaining to services to children with disabilities and in the area of mental health.
• Bilingual in English/Spanish.
