Job summary

Genetix Biotherapeutics seeks a Director, Value Communications to shape and execute access marketing strategies for gene therapies in the US, focusing on payer and reimbursement pathways across Commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in Payer/Access Marketing, Market Access Strategy, Field Market Access/HEOR Training and/or Value Communications within the pharmaceutical, biotech, or consulting industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or Communications; relevant advanced degree a plus.
  • Experience commercializing specialty therapies, preferably in rare disease or Cell and Gene Therapy.
  • Proven collaboration with cross-functional teams across functions.
  • Experience shaping market access strategies and payer marketing tools (value proposition decks), HEOR data strategies, and supporting field market access teams.
  • Experience supporting Specialty Distribution and Specialty Pharmacy products.
  • Experience with MLR/PRC and Veeva.
  • Experience developing and managing promotional budgets and overseeing third-party vendors.
  • Knowledge of market and competitive environment.
  • Strong communication skills, analytical ability, and influence within matrixed organizations.

Responsibilities

This is a full-time hybrid position (3 days a week) in our Somerville – Assembly Row, Massachusetts office.

The Director, Value Communications, is a results-driven individual responsible for shaping and executing Access Marketing strategy. This critical role ensures products are optimally positioned for coverage, reimbursement, and adoption across Payers as well as supports Qualified Treatment Center Access Marketing tools. Success in this role requires a deep understanding of the complex US healthcare landscape, including Commercial, Medicare and Medicaid as well as inpatient reimbursement pathways. This position will collaborate closely with teams across Market Access, Medical, and Marketing, as well as other cross-functional partners, to deliver integrated and impactful Access Marketing strategies, communications and training for the Field Payer Team.

  • Develop and execute the US Payer, Access & Reimbursement marketing strategy for the Genetix gene therapy products through identification and analysis of key market dynamics, development of critical tactical initiatives, and long-term needs.
  • Develop compelling value propositions and the payer messaging platform working cross-functionally with Medical Affairs and the Medical Value Liaison that address the unique clinical benefit and economic impact of Genetix therapies and effectively position Genetix products within the gene therapy marketplace.
  • Synthesize and provide payer, access, and reimbursement strategic recommendations to executive leadership, leveraging deep understanding of the complex reimbursement landscape.
  • Collaborate with cross functional partners (i.e. Field Payer Team) to gain organizational alignment and seamless execution of key payer, QTC, and reimbursement strategies.
  • Oversee strategic partners to ensure execution on agreed timelines, budget, and deliverables executed in accordance with Genetix compliance and regulatory policies.
  • Lead the review and approval process for access-related promotional materials and manage workflow to ensure compliance with medical, legal, and regulatory standards.
  • Support the training and pull-through field-facing promotional materials with relevant field teams.
  • In partnership with market access leadership, support training for Field Payer team including new hires, continuing education, and national meetings.
  • Manage Value Communications budget

Qualifications

Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience in Payer/Access Marketing, Market Access Strategy, Field Market Access/HEOR Training and/or Value Communications within the pharmaceutical, biotech, or consulting industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree required (preferred fields: Business, Marketing, Communications). Relevant advanced degree a plus.
  • Possesses recent experience in the successful commercialization of specialty therapies, preferably in the rare disease or Cell and Gene Therapy space.
  • Demonstrated history of successful collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Extensive experience in shaping market access strategies, developing brand plans and payer marketing tools (such as value proposition decks), informing HEOR data strategies, and supporting field market access teams.
  • Previous experience supporting Specialty Distribution and Specialty Pharmacy products.
  • Experience with MLR/PRC and Veeva.
  • Experience developing and managing promotional budgets and overseeing third-party vendors.
  • Knowledge of market and competitive environment.
  • Strong sense of urgency, accountability, and patient-centric focus.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and data entry systems.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment with competing priorities.
  • Ability to travel up to 40%.

Additional Information

The pay transparency range provided below is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and long-term incentive. Actual base salary pay will be based on several factors, including but not limited to experience, skills, relevant education/qualifications, external market, internal equity, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
