Position Overview Leads underwriting audit, quality assurance, and risk assessment activities for the life insurance business while serving as a recognized subject matter expert. Applies advanced underwriting expertise and analytical judgment to evaluate complex medical, financial, and non-medical risks, ensuring quality, consistency, and sound risk management practices.Partners with clients and internal stakeholders to strengthen underwriting performance, support profitable business outcomes, and drive continuous improvement through audit leadership, trend analysis, and process enhancement initiatives.### ResponsibilitiesLeads and performs both internal and client underwriting audits, ensuring consistent, high-quality evaluation of underwriting practices within assigned areas of expertise. Duties within functional area of expertise may include but are not limited to: Coordinates and executes audit activities, including case selection (random and targeted), audit scheduling (onsite and remote), Auto/Fac comparisons, and timely, professional reporting to stakeholders and senior management. Delivers clear, actionable audit insights to internal stakeholders and clients; facilitates discussions to drive alignment, resolution, and continuous improvement while keeping leadership appropriately informed.Partners with underwriting, Medical Directors, and other internal teams to review findings, inform guideline interpretation, and contribute to potential enhancements to underwriting philosophy, manuals, and audit practices. Build and maintain strong client relationships by providing underwriting insight and solutions, effectively communicating perspectives, and supporting positive business outcomes aligned with RGA Re’s philosophy. Evaluates and, where applicable, underwrites and/or cosigns large, complex life insurance risks within authority limits, ensuring decisions are sound, competitive, and aligned with profitability and risk objectives; exercises judgment within established philosophy.Identify trends and opportunities to enhance audit processes and consistency; contributes to guideline development, participates in projects and committees, and supports associate development. Adapts to and takes on expanded responsibilities as the audit function evolves, supporting broader coverage, capability building, and organizational needs. Performs other duties as assigned.### RequirementsBachelor’s Degree or equivalent related work experience (minimum 8 years) 7-8 years of reinsurance underwriting experience or 9+ years direct underwriting experience Proficiency in Word, Excel, and data/query tools (e.g., SQL) to support analysis and reporting Strong ability to interpret insurance contracts and apply underwriting guidelines across diverse client environments Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly to diverse audiences Broad understanding of medical, financial, legal, and accounting concepts as applied to risk evaluation Strong influencing, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills Highly advanced analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills, incorporating experience, research, and data Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to changing demands, and deliver high-quality outcomes Ability to quickly learn and apply multiple client systems and underwriting environments Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to apply guidelines with judgment and context while making sound financial underwriting and risk assessments Advanced knowledge of life insurance underwriting principles, risk assessment, and reinsurance practices Knowledge of industry trends and practices, with ability to translate insights into client and business value Ability to build trust and foster collaborative, client-focused relationships across internal and external teams Ability to work effectively in remote or hybrid environments maintaining an on-camera presence to support effective team interaction, communication, and client engagement Willingness to travel as needed (up to ~20%) Preferred BS/BA Science or Business ACS, ALU, FLMI, FALU, or CLU accreditation or progress towards accreditation What you can expect from RGA: Gain valuable knowledge from and experience with diverse, caring colleagues around the world.
