Job description

Guidewell's Transformation Office (TO) converts the company's strategy into a disciplined, resourced, and governed program of work. It is the operating mechanism through which the company decides where to place its bets and ensures those bets are delivered. The Director, Governance & Performance, owns the decision infrastructure that makes that operating mechanism real, rather than aspirational.

Reporting directly to the VP of Transformation and Performance, this role will create the oversight and management system to ensure the Transformation Office's (TO) core functions (strategy activation, portfolio management, product management, process excellence, business architecture, AI enablement and change management) are creating measurable and meaningful Enterprise value. This role operates as a peer-partner to the other TO leaders in the organization and owns the decision-rights architecture and meeting cadence that keep the TO's governance forums substantive, the single trusted transformation scorecard that blends financial results, delivery progress, and AI-adoption metrics into one view every function can rely on.

Key Responsibilities
  • Designs and oversees the management system that ensures the TO is consistently and effectively delivering Enterprise value
  • Engaging regularly with the Office of the CEO, Executive and Senior leadership teams, Finance and IT to ensure the TO is optimizing its impact in collaboration with the business
  • Run the Transformation Office's governance rhythm, including steering committee cadence, agenda discipline, and a clear decision-rights framework)
  • Own and continuously evolve the transformation scorecard, blending financial KPIs, delivery leading indicators, and AI-adoption metrics into a single view every function trusts
  • Own risk reporting as an integrated part of the performance view, not a separate process
  • Hold other function leaders accountable to the decision-rights model when escalations or disputes arise
Key Requirements
  • 7+ years' related work experience. Experience Details: Strategy execution with demonstrated experience designing and running large, complex enterprise transformation programs.
  • 3+ years' direct supervisory/management experience
  • Related Bachelor’s degree or additional related equivalent work experience
  • Experience in health insurance, healthcare, or another regulated industry.
  • Experience building or substantially maturing reporting and governance infrastructure in a fast-scaling or transforming organization.
  • Strong financial and operational fluency; experience owning a scorecard spanning financial, delivery, and adoption metrics.
  • Experience managing a function of 6–8+ FTEs spanning multiple sub-teams.
Preferred
  • Master’s degree
  • Prior experience incorporating AI-adoption metrics into an executive scorecard
