Qualifications

• Minimum 10+ years fixed income experience.

• Strong understanding of the competitive landscape in financial services, especially fixed income.
• Experience building teams; ability to motivate and coach experienced leaders.
• Proven experience creating a strategic roadmap and vision for teams.

As a Fixed Income Trading Director, you will lead a team or teams of fixed income traders across multiple locations. This is an exciting opportunity to be a driver of growth, leadership, and innovation. You will be expected to be a leader in championing our clients’ goals, focusing on the recruitment, retention, and development of our people, displaying leadership courage, and collaboration to drive better results.

Our traders have close alignment and partnership with our key business partners, including Operations, Risk, and our client facing partners. Our teams provide trade execution on behalf of our client trading as well as positioning fixed income products, leveraging Schwab’s capital. Managing the risk, exposure, and adherence to our policies is tantamount to the director role.

What you'll do:

• Represent the Schwab brand and be a brand ambassador in all interactions
• Design, communicate, implement, and execute strategies in support of organizational goals
• Establish clear goals and performance expectations and consistently communicate progress against those goals
• Hold teams accountable for achievement of quantitative and qualitative measures
• Build and develop a high-performing and diverse team, leveraging complementary skills and abilities. Create a sense of community, which results in sharing of best practices
• Develop leaders and hold them accountable to developing team members; foster their professional growth on an ongoing basis through effective and regular formal and informal coaching
• Attract and retain top talent through focus on employee engagement, creation of a positive work culture and a strong orientation to personal growth and development
• Partner closely with other functions such as product management, sales & service, operations, technology, risk, legal, and compliance
• Drive for process improvements that lead to improved efficiencies and greater client experience
• Ensure appropriate supervision of all trading desk activities

What you have

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 10+ years fixed income experience
• 5+ year’s experience as a People Leader
• Active FINRA securities licenses - Series 7, 63/66, 24, and 53 (the later two may be COE)
• A strong understanding and grasp of the competitive landscape in the financial services industry, especially related to fixed income
• Experience building teams; ability to motivate and coach experienced, skilled people leader
• Proven experience at creating a strategic roadmap and vision for teams

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong general management background including familiarity with human resources policies
• Strong interpersonal and relationship skills. Ability to establish rapport with and influence senior leaders and Schwab colleagues
• Executive level communication skills, including comfort creating and delivering presentations to varying audiences
• Ability to listen well, think strategically and creatively to solve problems and generate action through persuasion
• A strong understanding of key partner functions, such as sales & service, operations, technology, and compliance
• A bias for action and the ability to overcome obstacles and successfully partner with multiple constituents
• A strong understanding of evolving technology, the ability to leverage it, and promote its benefits to the team

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities
