As part of the evolution of the TI Automotive group following the integration of the two global businesses, the Company is now transitioning to US GAAP. The finance and tax team is therefore looking for a Director, Tax Reporting to lead the US GAAP tax reporting transition and own the ongoing global tax reporting process.
TI Automotive uses OneStream for accounting consolidation and has partnered with an external advisor to assist with the transition and reporting process.
Position Summary:
The Director, Tax Reporting will lead the transition from IFRS to US GAAP from a tax perspective, identify and oversee key tax accounting adjustments, and own the quarterly and annual tax provision and related disclosures. On an ongoing basis, the role has primary responsibility for the global tax reporting process, including technical review, executive-level analysis, process governance, continuous improvement and SOX-compliant controls.
The role will report to the Chief Accounting Officer and partner closely with the core tax team, external advisors, regional finance leadership and controllership. As a director-level role, the position should be expected to influence tax reporting strategy, provide clear recommendations to senior leadership, and support the accounting implications of strategic initiatives including acquisitions, restructuring activities, financing transactions and implementation of new accounting and tax legislation. Strong US GAAP technical tax accounting expertise is critical, together with the ability to lead cross-functional teams across a multinational organization and drive sustainable improvements in reporting quality, controls and governance.
Responsibilities of Position:
- Lead the preparation and review of the Group's quarterly and annual US GAAP tax provision, ensuring compliance with ASC 740 and Group reporting requirements.
- Coordinate the global tax reporting process, working closely with the tax and regional finance teams to ensure accurate and timely submission of tax reporting packages.
- Review current and deferred tax calculations, uncertain tax positions, valuation allowances, tax rate reconciliations and related tax disclosures for inclusion in the Group financial statements.
- Manage the Group's effective tax rate forecasting process and provide analysis of significant tax movements and drivers to senior management.
- Present quarterly and annual tax provision matters, key judgments, effective tax rate drivers and disclosure considerations to the CAO, CFO and other senior finance leaders.
- Manage the preparation of tax disclosures for external reporting requirements, including SEC reporting where applicable.
- Ensure tax provision processes, documentation and disclosures meet SOX readiness expectations and are suitable for SEC-quality external reporting.
- Own the design, execution and continuous improvement of tax reporting controls, including documentation, review evidence, issue escalation and remediation of control deficiencies.
- Actively engage with regional finance teams to understand local tax reporting processes, identify risks and provide technical guidance on US GAAP tax accounting matters.
- Support the implementation of new accounting standards, tax legislation and reporting requirements, including Pillar Two and other global tax developments where relevant.
- Work closely with the central tax team to ensure tax reporting appropriately reflects transfer pricing policies, restructuring activities and other international tax matters.
- Support tax accounting aspects of acquisitions, divestitures and business reorganizations, including purchase accounting and integration activities.
- Lead tax reporting interactions with external auditors, responding to auditor queries and providing supporting documentation for tax balances and disclosures.
- Manage internal tax reporting team members and/or external advisors, including work allocation, technical review, performance feedback and accountability for timely, high-quality deliverables.
- Build strong relationships across Finance and the wider business to ensure tax reporting considerations are appropriately reflected in business decisions and financial reporting processes.
- Establish and lead tax reporting governance, including clear ownership, review thresholds, issue escalation protocols, executive reporting, and review/sign-off of material tax accounting judgments, provision analytics, and disclosure positions.
Skill Requirements:
- Deep technical knowledge of US GAAP tax accounting (ASC 740), IFRS-to-US GAAP conversion matters, and practical application within a complex multinational group.
- CPA required; 10+ years of progressive tax accounting or tax reporting experience, including significant ASC 740 income tax provision experience, public company or IPO-readiness exposure, and hands-on SEC reporting experience, including preparation or review of income tax disclosures in Forms 10-K and 10-Q.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex global reporting processes, establish clear accountability, manage competing priorities and meet demanding quarter-end and year-end reporting deadlines.
- Comfortable operating both strategically and hands-on within a global finance team.
- Executive-level communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax accounting matters, risks and recommendations clearly to senior finance leaders, auditors and non-tax stakeholders.
- Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple regions and functions.
- Experience working within multinational organizations and coordinating with external advisors.
- Strong systems orientation, including tax reporting tools, OneStream and data-enabled reporting processes.
- Prior experience leading or developing tax reporting professionals, managing external advisors and influencing senior stakeholders is strongly preferred.
