Job description

We made history and now we work to transform the future – for our customers, our communities and our families. You'll see your work on the road every day, helping people move freely and pursue their dreams. At Ford, you can build more than vehicles. Come build what matters.

As part of our Human Resources team, you’ll help us attract, hire and retain the top talent we need to achieve our bold vision. You’ll play a vital role in defining, developing and maintaining the winning culture that empowers diverse individuals to work together and create the impossible. We’re seeking change leaders, talent strategists, employee advocates and culture architects to enable our teams, partners, and businesses to do and be their best.

In this position...

Ford is transforming – and talent is at the heart of it. As a leader within the Talent and Organizational Development COE, you'll build and elevate how we develop talent across our entire salaried workforce, making it a true driver of the company's transformation.

You’ll lead talent and organization development initiatives across multiple locations, owning their budgets, performance, and results. You'll work hand-in-hand with senior HR leaders and partners across the company to solve complex talent challenges, and you'll shape how we communicate about these programs, crafting the strategy and making sure it lands well with employees.

This role also means owning the bigger picture: managing stakeholders and risk, and serving as the subject-matter expert, setting the standards and policies that shape our talent programs, and driving them from strategy through execution. You'll help build a workplace that's both high-performing and grounded in strong ethics.

As a people leader, you'll also have the opportunity to build a strong, capable team of your own.

Responsibilities

What you'll do...

  • Leads programs that help employees and the organization grow, including career frameworks, performance management, succession planning, org design, and culture change. Keeps these efforts connected to our global leadership development strategy, so every employee has a clear path forward in their career.
  • Works closely with HR leaders and outside partners to make sure our people strategy supports where the business is headed, connecting the dots between how we're structured, how we reward people, and how we manage talent.
  • Shapes the strategy behind our HR and talent management programs, then leads the planning and rollout of the systems and processes that bring them to life.
  • Tackles complex talent and organization development challenges, like culture transformation, succession planning, and organizational restructuring, by weighing different options, understanding the risks, and finding the right solution for the business.
  • Presents progress and recommendations to teams across the company, and works with outside vendors, auditors, and consultants to turn those solutions into a real implementation plan.
  • Creates the standards, processes, and reporting tools that keep talent programs running smoothly, and continuously looks for ways to make them better. Tracks how well those programs are performing, using those insights to refine and optimize them over time, and partners with other teams to put improvements into action.
  • Leads conversations with HR leadership on the topics that matter most, like succession planning for key roles, performance management, employee engagement and retention, inclusion, and talent development. Coaches and advises HR and other leaders across the company on how to cultivate talent at all levels.
  • Champions the HR technology and talent management systems that power these programs, working with IT and vendors to make sure the tools support the strategy, not just the process.
  • Shapes how talent management programs run, making sure they reflect company-wide direction and stay current with the law. Keeps these guidelines fresh, clearly communicated, and consistently followed across the organization, and safeguards the accuracy and confidentiality of talent and organization development information, including succession plans, development initiatives, and career development plans.
  • As a people manager, owns key people decisions for their team, including hiring, performance management, discipline, pay, and team development.
Qualifications

You’ll have...

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree (preferred) in Human Resources, Organizational Development or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience.

Experience:

  • Minimum 8 years of work experience with a Master’s degree or 10 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Talent and Organization Development or a related field.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Personality and/or team building assessments
  • Executive coaching

Work Requirements:

  • Involves occasional (defined as one-third or less of the time) lifting of no more than 10 pounds at a time. Work is performed primarily in a seated position and entails no significant stooping, standing, climbing, walking, etc. Many sedentary jobs require good use of the hands and fingers for repetitive hand-finger actions. Working conditions occur within low to moderate noise levels related to the use of standard office or classroom equipment.
