Job summary

FOX Entertainment is seeking a Director, Systems Engineering for its live studio and broadcast environment. The Studio Engineer will maintain, troubleshoot, and repair IP-based broadcast systems, manage equipment inventory, and support virtual production/live workflows.

Regular on-site presence is required; leadership and collaboration with production teams across affiliates are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Dante certification is a plus.
  • 10+ years hands-on broadcast production and studio experience.
  • Experience with Riedel/Bolero communication system.
  • Experience supporting LED stages and virtual production environments.
  • Knowledge of Sony Venice 2, Panasonic PTZ, Stype, LiveU, Pixera, Barco E2/S3.
  • Hands-on with Evertz IP-based router and SMPTE 2110 IP workflows.
  • Familiar with Unreal Engine in broadcast; strong written and verbal communication.
  • Operational knowledge of Yamaha boards and Sony MLS X1; VMix experience.
  • Ability to lead, manage time, and work under pressure; on-site presence required.

Responsibilities

  • System Integrity: ensure facility systems and routing paths are correctly configured.
  • On-Site Leadership: troubleshoot and interface with production teams to realize visions.
  • Maintenance & Triage: diagnose faults, coordinate updates and vendor RMAs.
  • Advanced Planning: review event schedules to ensure resources meet production needs.

Job Description

The FOX Experience + Design team is fueled by boldness and the desire to create impact. We are dedicated to increasing awareness by connecting viewers and clients to FOX through best-in-class experiences across diverse business affiliates, such as FOX Entertainment, FOX Sports, Tubi Media, FOX News, and FOX Corporate. We focus on brand engagement and experiences by providing strategic ideas, planning, and production in events, design, and technology. The Director, Systems Engineering is responsible for the ongoing technical health and readiness of a live studio and broadcast environment. The Studio Engineer will maintain, troubleshoot, and repair IP‑based broadcast and production systems, manage and update equipment inventory, and support virtual production and live broadcast workflows. The engineer will work hands‑on with LED volume, Studio Lot Theaters, audio/video over IP, and broadcast infrastructure to ensure systems are fully operational, reliable, and production‑ready at all times. Regular, on‑site attendance at the workplace for a minimum of four (4) days per week is an essential function of the position. The selected candidate must be able to reliably meet this requirement.

Responsibilities
  • System Integrity: Ensure all facility systems, including remote equipment, routing switchers, and transmission paths, are configured correctly, providing real-time guidance to the production crew if issues arise.
  • On‑Site Leadership: Act as the technical troubleshooter, interfacing with stakeholders, and production teams to ensure their vision is executed flawlessly.
  • Maintenance & Triage: Diagnose and document equipment failures. Perform immediate repairs when possible, establish a support system with vendors to coordinate updates, RMAs, and off‑site maintenance for damaged gear.
  • Advanced Planning: Review upcoming event schedules to ensure technical facilities and resource allocations can support production requirements.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree Dante Certified 10+ years of hands‑on broadcast production and studio experience
  • Experience in the Riedel / Bolero communication system
  • Experience supporting LED stages / virtual production environments
  • Experience and knowledge of the Sony Venice 2 and Panasonic PTZ camera system
  • Experience with Stype software
  • Experience with LiveU
  • Experience with Pixera media serverExperience with Barco E2 & S3 video processors
  • Hands‑on experience with Evertz IP‑based router
  • Working knowledge of Unreal Engine in a broadcast or production setting
  • Operational knowledge of Yamaha sound Boards
  • Operational knowledge of the Sony MLS X1 video switcher
  • Operational knowledge of VMix system
  • Familiar with SMPTE 2110 IP‑based broadcast infrastructure
  • Solid understanding of broadcast transmission workflows
  • Proven track record of success in a studio or broadcast environment
  • Proven ability to support both production and broadcast engineering environments
  • Ability to lead, prioritize, and multi‑task in a fast‑paced, deadline‑oriented, and ever‑changing environment while projecting grace under pressure and maintaining an appropriate sense of urgency
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, across all levels of the organization
  • Must work in the office, evenings, and weekends is often required as well
  • Must work long hours (evenings/weekends), lift 50lbs, & work on feet for extended periods

Compensation and Benefits

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $160,000.00–220,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents.
