Nordstrom, Inc. in Seattle seeks a Director of Strategic Sourcing - Technology to lead a team spanning Software, Hardware, Telecom, and AI/Infrastructure spend. Build partnerships with Nordstrom's Technology organization and drive speed, value, and end-to-end outcomes.

The role is hybrid, based in downtown Seattle; in-office four days per week. You will recruit and develop talent, negotiate major technology deals, and influence senior executives with market intelligence and innovative sourcing

Qualifications

• 12+ years of global strategic sourcing/procurement experience, ideally supporting a Technology organization in a high-growth, retail, or fast-paced enterprise environment.
• 10+ years of team leadership and/or people management experience.
• Demonstrated track record of building trust with skeptical technology stakeholders and turning trust into faster outcomes.
• Market-leading knowledge of global market analysis, supplier relationships, and multi-year negotiation strategies.
• Familiarity with AI and agentic sourcing tools and their impact on strategy and negotiation.

As the Director of Strategic Sourcing - Technology, you will lead a team of sourcing professionals in building trusted, forward-leaning partnerships with Nordstrom's Technology organization - spanning Software, Hardware, Telecom, and AI/Infrastructure spend -so that Sourcing is engaged as an early, strategic partner rather than a late-stage approval step. You will set the vision for how the team shows up: moving with speed and agility, owning outcomes end-to-end, and creating a frictionless experience for the Technology executives and their teams you support. This role requires someone who can build genuine trust with senior technology leaders, bring market and AI-sourcing intelligence to the table, and turn that trust into measurable speed, value, and partnership across every deal.

NOTE: This position is offered as a hybrid role in the downtown Seattle, WA area. You will be required to be in office 4 days per week.

A day in the life...

• Design and develop your organization. Build a sourcing team with superior engagement and accountability, coaching professionals to bring the same partnership mindset and consultative approach to their stakeholders.

• Own the pace. Drive speed and urgency into every deal, actively working to shrink cycle times and remove friction points, and internal approvals without compromising diligence.

• Partner early, not last. Build direct, proactive relationships with Technology leaders so Sourcing is looped in during roadmap and budget planning - not weeks before a contract is due.

• Develop and execute sourcing strategy. Build category strategies for Technology spend, including commodity and supplier risk management recommendations, that hold up as the business and market shift.

• Manage supplier performance. Develop and leverage strong relationships with strategic technology suppliers and industry players, holding them accountable to continuous performance improvement.

• Bring market and AI intelligence to the table. Apply market-leading knowledge of global technology suppliers, competitors, and dynamics - including how AI and agentic sourcing tools are shifting category strategy from cost-cutting toward strategic value creation - to surface risk, savings, and innovation before they're asked for.

• Build pipeline visibility. Create a forward-looking view of upcoming technology deals, renewals, and negotiations - shared proactively with business partners -so nothing surprises a stakeholder or a supplier.

• Rapidly assess opportunities and lead change. Develop a compelling vision for best-in-class sourcing performance and lead your team to implement systematic change, rather than waiting to be asked.

• Lead high-stakes negotiations. Personally engage on the most complex, highest-value technology negotiations, partnering closely with leaders who negotiate directly, so Sourcing adds value.

• Manage the complex and competing. Effectively prioritize and lead multiple concurrent sourcing strategies, projects, and deadlines across a broad technology category portfolio.

You own this if you have...

• 12+ years of global strategic sourcing/procurement experience, ideally supporting a Technology organization in a high-growth, retail, or fast-paced enterprise environment

• 10+ years of team leadership and/or people management experience

• A demonstrated track record of building trust with skeptical or high-velocity technology stakeholders, and turning that trust into faster, better-partnered outcomes

• Market-leading knowledge of global market analysis, macro-economic drivers, sourcing category strategy, supplier relationship management, strategic vendor alliance programs, 'should-cost' models, and multi-year negotiation strategies

• Familiarity with how AI and agentic sourcing tools are changing category strategy, market intelligence, and negotiation support — and a point of view on where to apply them

• Knowledge of critical procurement legal requirements and contracting best practices

• Exceptional ability to influence at a Senior Executive level, both internally and externally, including with technology leaders who are used to negotiating directly with suppliers

• Exceptional written and oral communication, with the judgment to know when to lead and when to enable

• Strong experience with MS Office Suite, Oracle, BI Apps, charting programs, and other sourcing/procurement tools

Pay Range Details

The pay range(s) below has been provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different for other locations.
Pay offers are dependent on the location, as well as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

$175,000.00 - $275,000.00 Annual
