Job summary

Virginia Tech National Security Institute (VTNSI) seeks a Director for the Spectrum Dominance Division. Lead division personnel, programs, and research direction, partnering with industry and government sponsors to sustain and grow advanced security research and experiential learning opportunities.

Responsibilities include developing funding strategies, mentoring researchers, and overseeing budgets, with emphasis on national security impact and collaboration across VTNSI divisions.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated record of research leadership, excellence, and impact in radio frequency communications.
• Track record of building research portfolios, sponsor partnerships, and securing funding.
• Proven success leading sponsored research programs as Principal Investigator for defense, intel, or sponsors.

Responsibilities

• Identify and pursue new funding opportunities early in program development.
• Develop strategies for sustainment and growth of research and experiential learning programs.
• Serve as principal and co-principal investigator on proposals and grants.
• Mentor students and researchers; author technical documents and papers.
