Albedo is hiring a Director of Hardware Engineering to lead its hardware org across opto-mechanical, structural, thermal, and avionics disciplines. You’ll own the design margin discipline for precision spaceflight hardware and drive the AIT build flow from mirror fabrication through integration and testing.

You’ll develop hardware managers, partner with production, software, and systems, and stay hands-on with high-stakes design and anomaly work as we scale to production for mission sets across

Qualifications

• Twelve-plus years in precision spaceflight hardware.
• Experience leading hardware engineering managers.
• Depth in opto-mechanical, structural dynamics, or precision pointing systems.
• Track record of margin discipline against NASA, MIL, or equivalent standards.
• Experience with environmental test campaigns and anomaly resolution.
• Real make-vs-buy decisions you have owned and can defend with data.
• Ability to hold a schedule under pressure and justify decisions.

Responsibilities

• Lead the hardware engineering organization across multiple teams of managers and ICs.
• Own design margin discipline across thermal, structural, radiation, electrical, mass, and optical budgets.
• Drive the AIT build flow from mirror fabrication through bus-to-payload integration and environmental tests.
• Set and defend make-vs-buy strategy, balancing vertical integration and outsourcing.
• Develop hardware engineering managers who can run domains independently.
• Partner with software, systems, and program management to close the analytical loop.
• Engage in design reviews, anomaly investigations, and supplier assessments.
