Job summary

Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation is seeking a Director of Meat & Seafood Sourcing to lead supplier strategy, execution, and partnerships across its meat and seafood business.

You will build and scale the supplier network, set cost structures, and ensure quality standards, with a focus on small ranchers and regional producers who can deliver differentiated products and authentic sourcing stories.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• 8+ years in progressive sourcing, procurement, buying, category management, supply chain, or fresh food leadership; meat and/or seafood strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of meat and seafood categories, protein commodities, supplier capabilities, product specs, quality standards, food safety expectations, inbound quality, yield, and seasonal dynamics.
• Demonstrated strength in strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, cost management, contract terms, vendor accountability, funding, and service-level improvement.
• Ability to identify and develop relationships with small ranchers, farmers, fisheries, and regional producers while helping them scale to Sprouts’ quality, service, and compliance expectations.
• Ability to build supplier strategies that enable differentiated assortments, innovation pipelines, and competitive cost structures.
• Strong analytical skills connecting commodity markets, supplier performance, cost modeling, and yield to drive sourcing actions.
• Experience managing supplier risk, alternate sources of supply, quality escalations, recalls, and supply disruptions.
• Ability to influence across merchandising, supply chain, replenishment, planning, quality control, food safety, finance, and operations.
• Strong communication skills to translate complex supplier and market data into actionable leadership recommendations.

• Leverage market insights and analytics to identify risks and opportunities.
• Establish supplier performance management, scorecards, and governance frameworks.
• Collaborate with Quality, Food Safety, Supply Chain, and Distribution to ensure compliance and product integrity.
• Develop contingency sourcing plans to mitigate supply disruption risks.
• Identify opportunities for assortment innovation and responsible sourcing in partnership with Merchandising.
• Communicate sourcing strategies and risks to senior leadership and drive cross-functional issue resolution.

Overview

The Director of Meat & Seafood Sourcing leads the supplier strategy, sourcing execution, and partnership model for Sprouts’ meat and seafood business. This role is accountable for building the supplier network, cost structure, quality standards, service levels, and innovation pipeline needed to support Sprouts’ fresh, differentiated, quality-driven, and customer-led positioning. A key part of this role is identifying, cultivating, and scaling relationships with small ranchers, farmers, fisheries, and regional producers who can bring differentiated products and authentic sourcing stories to Sprouts. The Director partners closely with Merchandising, Supply Chain, Replenishment, Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Food Safety, Operations, Finance, and Marketing to ensure Sprouts has the right supplier relationships, product specifications, supply continuity, inbound quality, yield expectations, and cost discipline to deliver strong sales, margin, freshness, availability, and customer trust. This leader must be able to navigate commodity markets, negotiate effectively, hold suppliers accountable, and bring forward differentiated product opportunities that make Sprouts a more compelling destination for meat and seafood.

Overview Of Responsibilities

• Develop and lead the long-term sourcing strategy for Meat & Seafood, ensuring alignment with enterprise objectives, category priorities, and Sprouts' differentiated brand position.
• Build the Meat sourcing function from the ground up, defining the structure, capabilities, and future resource needs required to scale and support the business.
• Establish and oversee a strategic supplier portfolio that supports quality, innovation, cost competitiveness, supply continuity, risk mitigation, and long-term business growth.
• Partner with senior merchandising and enterprise leaders to align sourcing priorities, evaluate tradeoffs, and support strategic business decisions.
• Build and strengthen relationships with suppliers, including regional producers, ranchers, farmers, fisheries, and strategic partners that enhance product differentiation and customer value.
• Lead supplier negotiations and sourcing initiatives to optimize costs, improve margin, secure funding opportunities, and strengthen supplier performance.
• Leverage commodity market insights, supplier intelligence, and business analytics to identify risks, opportunities, and sourcing strategies that drive business results.
• Establish supplier performance management processes, scorecards, and governance routines that promote accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
• Partner with Quality, Food Safety, Supply Chain, Replenishment, and Distribution teams to ensure compliance, product integrity, service performance, and consistent product quality.
• Develop contingency plans and alternative sourcing strategies to mitigate business risks related to supply disruption, commodity volatility, capacity constraints, and quality concerns.
• Partner with Merchandising to identify and commercialize sourcing opportunities that support assortment innovation, differentiation, responsible sourcing practices, and Sprouts’ customer promise.
• Communicate sourcing strategies, market trends, business risks, and recommendations to senior leadership while leading cross-functional resolution of supplier, quality, and supply issues.
