Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a senior security leader to provide professional leadership for the department, ensuring a safe and protected environment for customers, employees and visitors. You will oversee staffing, budgets, and development of security policies across facilities.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) with 5 years in leadership and 2 years in security management. You will lead risk assessments and executive protection efforts across the System.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years in a leadership-level position.
• At least 2 years in security management.

Job description

Provides professional leadership for the department in order to fulfill its mission of having a safe, secure and protected environment for its customers, employees and visitors. Maintains working knowledge of loss prevention/detection and protection of persons/assets. Provides administrative oversight of operations at assigned facilities. Assures that operations are compliant with applicable federal, state and local ordinances and regulatory agency standards.

Essential Functions

• Oversees all responsibility for the staffing functions and programs at assigned facilities such as: screening, hiring, education and retraining of personnel, competency evaluations, performance reviews, job descriptions, work schedule and time cards, wage and salary application, promotions to promote service excellence.
• Provides professional leadership in the development of operational improvement processes and the reporting of those activities within assigned facilities impacting the System.
• Assists with preparation and implementation of annual budgets in keeping with budget parameters.
• Develops and implements the security policies and procedures to help assure departmental compliance with organizational goals; applicable federal, state, and local ordinances; and regulatory agency standards.
• Evaluates all assigned System properties assessing risk, based on internal and external activity. Reports security audits with recommendations to assigned facility administrators.
• Provides Executive Protection for the System both as a leader and as a team member. Lead project teams consisting of a wide range of personnel in all facets of security.
  

Physical Requirements
Must be mobile throughout the entire hospital campus and/or System properties as well as in patient care areas. Faces exposure to combative patients, fire and other hazardous situations. Has responsibility to work in a safe and effective manner.

Education, Experience and Certifications
Bachelor's Degree required. Master's Degree in Management preferred. 5 years experience in leadership level position required. 2 years experience in security management preferred.
