Job Description
Job Summary

We believe great work happens when flexibility and connection come together, and when we respect the whole person, not just the professional. That is why we operate under one flexible work model with a hybrid schedule of three in-office days per week, aligned to one of our three Greater Philadelphia area offices. Your Talent Acquisition partner will work closely with you to confirm the office location that best aligns with the role and your home location, ensuring you have the right balance of connection, collaboration, and flexibility to thrive.

The Director of Security leads Day & Zimmermann's internal security program, with responsibility for physical security, personal-risk protection, asset and equipment protection, industrial security, and related investigations. The Director serves as the senior internal security adviser to the Chief Legal Officer and executive leadership, leads assigned security personnel, oversees vulnerability assessments, and serves as the senior escalation point for significant security concerns. The job is focused exclusively on protecting Day & Zimmermann's people, property, information, and operations. The Director partners with Information Security and Cyber Security but does not manage those functions or client-delivered security programs.

Responsibilities
  • Threat Assessment and Physical Security of Company-Owned Sites: Receive and evaluate threat information compiled by designated internal personnel through open-source intelligence, social media, investigative tools, and other information sources. Assess violent or disruptive threats and emerging risks to the Company. Own physical-security vulnerability assessments and standards for all Company-owned sites including offices, facilities, and munitions plants and establish a prioritized remediation register.
  • Personal Risk Protection: Assess and manage security risks to shareholders, executives, employees, and other personnel when risks arise from threats, protests, public events, travel, employment disputes, former employees, public exposure, or other circumstances. Develop protective recommendations and coordinate with law enforcement, government authorities, site leadership, and other appropriate partners.
  • Industrial Security: Drive the Company's industrial-security program, including specifically its Insider Threat Program, for buildings and operations holding a U.S. Government facility clearance. Supervise certain Facility Security Officers who ensure appropriate implementation of NISPOM and other applicable government security requirements. Assess the current industrial-security structure, confirm the responsibilities and reporting lines of the Senior FSO, Assistant FSO, and other functional FSOs, and identify compliance gaps.
  • Executive Advising and External Coordination: Advise the Chief Legal Officer and executive leadership on significant security risks, recommended protective measures, and appropriate coordination with law enforcement or government authorities.
  • Asset, Equipment and Data Protection: In partnership with IT, protect Company assets and equipment from theft, unauthorized removal, or misuse. Supervise the Cyberhaven Analyst, who will use Cyberhaven to monitor transfers of files and data, identify anomalous or unauthorized activity, support investigations, and elevate potential loss or exfiltration of Company information.
  • Investigations and Incident Response: Conduct and coordinate domestic investigations as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to protect confidential information and exercise sound judgment in sensitive security, investigation, and escalation matters.
  • Ability to communicate significant security risks, protective measures, and investigative information to senior executives and other appropriate stakeholders.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills sufficient to support security assessments, investigations, executive advising, and external coordination.
  • Strong analytical and crisis-management skills sufficient to evaluate threats, vulnerabilities, anomalous activity, and significant security matters.
  • Incident response and investigative coordination capability sufficient to support security event response, fact-finding, corrective action, and continuous improvement.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in Security management, criminal justice, intelligence, risk management, business administration, or a related discipline; equivalent related experience may be considered where appropriate. Required
  • 10+ years Progressive experience in corporate security, industrial security, physical security, intelligence, government security, risk management, or a related security discipline, including experience advising senior stakeholders on risk-based security decisions. Required
