Job summary

Alto Neuroscience is seeking an experienced Director, Scientific Communications to lead publication and data dissemination across the company pipeline. This role partners with Clinical Development, Biostatistics, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, and Commercial to translate data into rigorous scientific communications for healthcare professionals, payers, and the broader scientific community.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of scientific or medical communications experience within the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry, including direct ownership of publication plans.
• Experience developing and executing abstracts, manuscripts, congress presentations, and other scientific communications.
• Strong ability to interpret and communicate complex clinical and scientific data to multiple audiences.
• Experience managing medical communications agencies, publication timelines, and budgets.
• Experience working within medical, legal, and regulatory review processes.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration, project management, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Own the publication plan across Alto's pipeline (abstracts, manuscripts, congress presentations) from data readout through peer‑reviewed publication.
• Develop and maintain the scientific narrative platform to ensure consistent, evidence‑based external scientific communications across differentiated pipeline programs.
• Drive publication planning, sequencing, and execution in alignment with program milestones and broader corporate and Medical Affairs objectives.
• Partner with Clinical Development, Biostatistics, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, and Commercial to translate clinical data into accurate and strategically sequenced scientific communications.
• Support HEOR publication strategy, including the sequencing of abstracts, presentations, and manuscripts within the broader publication plan.
• Ensure scientific communications remain aligned with broader program and launch‑readiness strategies while maintaining appropriate scientific independence and integrity.
• Represent Scientific Communications in cross‑functional launch‑readiness and program planning activities.
• Manage medical communications agency relationships, deliverables, timelines, and budgets for publications and congress support.
• Coordinate scientific content through appropriate medical, legal, and regulatory review processes.
• Establish and maintain publication timelines, processes, and standards to support high‑quality and timely execution.

Primary Role

We are seeking an experienced Director, Scientific Communications to lead publication and scientific data dissemination strategy across Alto’s pipeline. This role will partner closely with Clinical Development, Biostatistics, Medical Affairs, and other cross-functional teams to translate clinical data into rigorous, consistent scientific communications for healthcare professionals, KOLs, payers, and the broader scientific community.

What you'll do

Publication & Scientific Communications Strategy

• Own the publication plan across Alto's pipeline (abstracts, manuscripts, congress presentations) from data readout through peer-reviewed publication
• Develop and maintain the scientific narrative platform to ensure consistent, evidence-based external scientific communications across differentiated pipeline programs.

Location

Salary Range

Salary Range$220,000 - $260,000*depending on qualifications and experience level

Travel RequiredLight travel required, including attendance at relevant scientific congresses and internal meetings.

Qualifications

Bonus Skills/Abilities: CNS or psychiatry therapeutic area experience.Experience supporting multiple pipeline programs simultaneously, each with distinct scientific communication needs.Experience developing publication and scientific communications strategy in preparation for a first commercial launch.Experience partnering with HEOR, Medical Affairs, and Commercial teams in a pre-launch environment.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position is initially envisioned as an individual contributor role and may provide direction and oversight to external agencies, consultants, and other partners.Potential to build and lead Scientific Communications capabilities as the organization grows.

Education and Experience

Education and Experience:Advanced degree in a scientific or healthcare-related field (e.g., PhD, PharmD, MD) preferred; master’s degree or equivalent relevant experience considered.
