Job Description

Versant is seeking a Director of Salesforce Engineering to lead the design, development, deployment, support, and evolution of Versant’s enterprise‑wide Salesforce ecosystem—spanning Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud (Engagement), and Data Cloud/CDP. This leader will drive the engineering vision for our customer and business‑facing platforms, ensuring reliability, scalability, and innovation in support of Versant’s growth strategy. You will build and lead a high‑performing team of engineers and solution architects responsible for platform architecture, integration, and delivery. You’ll partner with stakeholders across Marketing, Sales, Product, Data & Analytics, and Corporate Technology to align our Salesforce strategy with business goals and technical standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Platform Strategy & Architecture: Define the engineering vision, standards, and multi‑year roadmap for Salesforce platforms (Sales, Service, Marketing, and Data Cloud).
  • Architect scalable, secure, and integrated Salesforce solutions that meet enterprise and customer needs.
  • Align platform architecture with Versant’s digital strategy, ensuring flexibility for future expansion and new capabilities.
  • Evaluate and adopt emerging Salesforce technologies (AI, automation, data unification) that enhance performance, usability, and business outcomes.
  • Partner with Product, Data, and Enterprise Technology leaders to ensure cohesive architecture and alignment across corporate systems.
  • Delivery & Operations Excellence: Lead end‑to‑end Salesforce delivery, from requirements and design through testing, deployment, and sustainment.
  • Oversee technical delivery, CI/CD pipelines, and environment management to ensure stability and predictable releases.
  • Drive best practices in DevOps, code quality, documentation, and automated testing to enable faster innovation with minimal risk.
  • Collaborate with data, integration, and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless interoperability across applications.
  • Monitor platform performance, availability, and incident response, ensuring operational excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Partner & Team Leadership: Build and lead a blended organization of internal engineers, architects, and contracted delivery partners.
  • Serve as the accountable leader for all contracted and managed service partners, ensuring delivery quality, cost effectiveness, and strategic alignment.
  • Define clear scopes of work, service‑level expectations, and governance processes with delivery partners.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, ownership, and learning—balancing partner execution with internal capability growth.
  • Mentor and develop team members, driving engagement, accountability, and professional development.
  • Manage budgets and resource plans, ensuring optimal allocation across initiatives.
  • Governance, Security & Stakeholder Alignment: Ensure Salesforce platform compliance with corporate security, privacy, and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish and maintain engineering governance: version control, change management, documentation, and technical standards.
  • Partner with Legal, Privacy, and Security teams to safeguard customer and business data.
  • Collaborate with leaders across Marketing, Sales, Product, and Corporate Technology to align goals and communicate progress.
  • Provide executive‑level visibility into platform health, roadmap execution, risks, and outcomes.
  • Act as the technology ambassador for Salesforce engineering, representing the function across Versant’s leadership forums.
Qualifications
  • Basic Requirements: 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5+ years leading Salesforce engineering or CRM platform teams.
  • Expertise with Salesforce platform architecture, including Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud, or Data Cloud/CDP.
  • Deep understanding of Apex, Lightning, Flows, API integration, middleware, data modeling, and security best practices.
  • Proven success delivering enterprise‑scale Salesforce implementations with multiple integrations and high user adoption.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor technical teams, manage budgets, and balance internal/external delivery models.
  • Background in agile delivery and DevOps principles, including automated testing and CI/CD.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Desired Characteristics: Experience in media, entertainment, or consumer subscription businesses.
  • Familiarity with AWS, GCP, or Azure for Salesforce integrations and data pipelines.
  • Experience implementing Salesforce Marketing Cloud Engagement or Data Cloud/CDP for audience segmentation or personalization.
  • Passion for leading teams through large‑scale transformation and modernizing legacy CRM systems. Knowledge of privacy and compliance frameworks (GDPR, CCPA) as they relate to customer data and consent management.
