Job summary

The Salvation Army Southern California is seeking an Assistant to the Director and Food Pantry Manager to oversee pantry operations and support leadership. You will manage daily tasks, ensure food safety, coordinate with partners, and supervise volunteers to deliver compassionate community service.

Position requires bilingual English-Spanish skills, strong organizational ability, and the capacity to multitask in a busy nonprofit environment.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 2+ years in related field or human services experience.
• Bilingual English-Spanish with strong written and spoken communication.
• Ability to work with diverse groups and maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients, volunteers and visitors.
• Multitask office tasks such as answering phones and providing information to callers and walk-ins in both languages.
• Fosters a positive and collaborative work environment.
• Supports colleagues, volunteers, board members, the director, the Division and the center’s mission.
• Interviews and ascertain needs of clients; guides with compassion and connects to resources.
• Keeps records and enters information in WellSky.
• Trains and supervises volunteers and tracks hours.
• Maintains pantry supplies and reports stock levels to the director.
• Ensures cleanliness and safety of pantry, kitchen, fridges and handling.
• Creates inventory reports of food orders and donations.
• Publishes on social media and coordinates with local media.
• Maintains communication with agencies and partners.
