We’re looking for an experienced Director, Revenue and Voyage Accounting to fill this role which is based in our Seattle or Miami offices. You’ll be responsible for all revenue accounting operations across Holland America Line and Seabourn. This strategic role oversees the full spectrum of financial activities including Ticket and Onboard Revenue, Voyage Accounting, Pre and Post Accounting, Shipboard Finance, and Cash Operations. It encompasses ownership of revenue and accounts receivable accounting, financial analysis, reconciliations, voyage closing, credit card processing, guest refunds, travel agent commissions, chargebacks, fraud mitigation, and loyalty program accounting. The position also manages the recording and reporting of approximately $250 million in monthly revenue and reconciles critical balance sheet accounts, notably the $1 billion Customer Deposit account. Additionally, the role directs Fleet Managers who support shipboard finance teams and initiatives and leads system enhancements for both shoreside and shipboard revenue accounting platforms. Collaboration spans across key internal departments such as Revenue Management, Guest Relations, Tax, FP&A, Finance IT, Corporate Accounting, and Casino Operations.

Responsibilities
  • Execution and Performance: Plans and directs the accounting and reporting of financial revenue transactions related to Holland America Line and Seabourn guided by functional strategy, creates impactful results for business partner functions, including Commercial, GEPD, ABG, and Tax; partners with the ELT to address critical issues and communicate accounting practices and policies; translates mid and long-term Controllership goals into operating objectives; recommends changes in accounting, reporting, policies, procedures, controls and/or processes, to align with business need and fiscal goals.
  • Accounts and Budget Ownership: Oversees approximately $250 million of total revenue recognized each month and supports the monthly explanation of variances of actuals vs forecast; owns the Customer Deposit account (approx. $1B in total balance) and leads the quarterly variance explanations due to Corporate; partners with cross-functional teams — IT, Finance, and Operations — to align project budgets with strategic goals and ensure efficient resource allocation; collaborates to identify opportunities for automation and efficiency, ensuring budgetary considerations are integrated into project planning.
  • Compliance and Security: Establishes, enforces, and ensures the adequacy of internal controls, policies and procedures for responsible areas and Brands; reviews and approves changes to accounting, reporting, processes and workflows, and policies and procedures across clients, including Brand initiatives.
  • Shipboard Finance Operations: Leads and oversees Fleet Managers onboard, responsible for supporting shipboard finance team members and all shipboard finance initiatives; leads system enhancements and project management of shipboard revenue accounting systems.
  • Team Leadership/Decision Making: Leads and develops accounting Managers and staff, building highly effective teams and improving overall talent; provides accounting guidance to aid decisions made by Brands; makes decisions guided by precedent and reference to existing policies; typically related to quality standards, people/services/financial/equipment resources, project approach and tactical operations for the division; plans and prioritizes team workload and ad hoc projects; demonstrates broad-based ability to recognize and develop talent.
Requirements
  • 10–15 years of accounting experience plus 10 years of management experience.
  • CPA (or other accounting certificate) may be required based on position or geography.
  • Experience directing the accounting and reporting of a highly complex, diverse, international, multi-location financial organization.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Presentation skills and persuasion.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex issues from multiple stakeholders.
  • Subject‑matter expert with full competence in recognized bodies of knowledge.
  • Established expertise in financial operations, financial controls, GAAP accounting, financial reporting, and financial systems.
  • In-depth experience in directing accounting and reporting of a highly complex, diverse, multi-location organization.
  • Ability to collaborate and work with others to resolve significant issues and clarify or interpret complex information, provide initial screening/negotiations.

  • Base Salary Range: $136,200.00 to $183,900.00 — the range is applicable for the labor market where the role is intended to be hired. Final base salary is directly related to each candidate’s qualifications and experience uniquely.
