Job Description

Due to growth and new demand for our environmental services in the New Jersey and New York City markets, we are seeking a Director to manage our regional remediation and regulatory compliance group. We are looking for a candidate who has strong engineering, technical and business development skills, who will assist senior leaders in expanding our presence in the region. Senior Consultants/Directors coach and manage teams of consultants who perform a variety of regulatory compliance and remediation services.

Core Responsibilities
  • Manage projects to meet milestones, budget, deadlines, regulatory requirements, client needs, or other performance indicators.
  • Manage all aspects of the project life cycle: planning, scope definition, budgeting, coordination, execution, and delivery.
  • Actively participate in Account Management and Business Development program to engage with clients and procure work.
  • Manage project staff members and subcontractors.
  • Prepare NJDEP, NYSDEC, and NYCDEP project deliverables.
  • Engineer and implement the in-situ remediation of impacted soil and groundwater, as well as vapor mitigation systems.
  • Oversee and provide technical review of investigation and remediation projects in the region.
  • Prepare and review cost proposals and technical assessment reports including ensuring accurate data/summary tables and/or figures.
  • Coordinate work activities for multiple project functions to ensure satisfying delivery.
  • Effectively lead coordination with other team members as requested or assigned, able to provide technical work product review, and monitor own progress on assigned tasks or projects, and ensure work product produced by self is consistently high quality.
  • Responsible for supporting assigned MD in meeting or exceeding the defined annual budget for the entire practice area/practice division.
  • Responsible for supporting development of new accounts and retaining and expanding existing engagements within the practice area to achieve sales goals
  • Develop and foster relationships with decision makers within existing key/strategic accounts and cross-sell other service areas
  • Directly manage, mentor and develop a team of direct reports focused on attracting, placing, and growing the assigned practice team members, with emphasis on creating a team and culture that is empowered to execute
  • Responsible for learning business development methodology and for being active in efforts to individually generate incremental revenue
  • Lead team of assigned staff members to establish and drive towards defined objectives and key results (OKRs).
  • Establish quality control of service delivery, maintaining an excellent reputation of quality and lead and manage in a manner that assists with rapid resolution of any client, team member or operational challenges.
Operations
  • Lead and manage in support of strategic plans that align with the organization’s vision and defined business objectives.
  • Responsible for leading and managing in alignment with the development of the overall practice in achieving profit objectives.
  • Support construction of strong cross-functional teams to achieve success in shared goals, understanding that multiple perspectives and talents build stronger teams and results.
  • Manage assigned projects consistent with contracts and proactively alert assigned MD to any potential challenges or issues.
  • Ensure compliance of operations with all local, state and Federal (and International, if applicable) regulations, as well as compliance with company policy.
  • Ensure consistent high quality on deliverables for the practice.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Competencies
  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 12 years of related experience or a Master's degree and 8 years of related experience, and at least 5 years in management capacity.
  • PE in New York and/or New Jersey is required.
  • Willingness to obtain PE licenses in other states.
  • Technical proficiency in environmental consulting services, including conducting and leading client facing remediation and environmental compliance projects.
  • Direct experience designing and implementing the in-situ remediation of impacted soil and groundwater, as well as vapor intrusion mitigation.
  • Direct experience managing projects in the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) Brownfield Cleanup Program (BCP) and Spills Program; and the New York City Office of Environmental Remediation (NYCOER) E-Designation and Voluntary Cleanup Programs.
  • Working knowledge and applicability of the NYSDEC BCP and Spills Program regulations; the NYCOER E-Designation and Voluntary Cleanup Programs; the New Jersey Technical Requirements for Site Remediation and the Industrial Site Recovery Act (ISRA).
  • Ability/willingness for regional travel with some national travel for client work and events. Valid driver's license required.

  • Able to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with co-workers, clients, subcontractors, and vendors

The Pay Range For This Role Is

$159,000.00 - $432,000.00 USD annually (Geographical Tier AA - Sample Locations: NY Metro, San Francisco, San Jose, Seattle)

$146,000.00 - $398,000.00 USD annually (Geographical Tier A - Sample Locations: Irvine CA, Middlesex NJ, Tacoma WA, Boston, Alexandria)
