Job summary

Group 1001 is seeking a Director of Reinsurance Underwriting to lead risk assessment, model building, and transaction vetting for renewal and new reinsurance deals. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to draft memos and review contracts.

The role emphasizes reserving, ERM processes, and industry trend analysis in a fast-paced environment. Hybrid work from Stamford, CT with occasional travel is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Mathematics, Actuarial Science or Risk Management.
• 10+ years of experience in insurance or reinsurance underwriting, operations, actuarial, or related fields.
• Experience in automobile insurance (personal or commercial).
• Experience within property & casualty insurance or reinsurance is preferred.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate complex data.

Responsibilities

• Screen and vet risks; set up models to quantify risks and rewards.
• Draft comprehensive transaction memos for reinsurance.
• Review contracts and trust agreements related to reinsurance.
• Help review reserving assumptions for certain transactions.
• Collaborate with Risk Management to improve ERM processes.
• Stay updated on industry trends to inform business strategy.
