Job description

At AMD, our mission is to build great products that accelerate next‑generation computing experiences—from AI and data centers, to PCs, gaming and embedded systems. Grounded in a culture of innovation and collaboration, we believe real progress comes from bold ideas, human ingenuity and a shared passion to create something extraordinary.

The Team

The AECG x86 Embedded Team builds and optimizes x86 platforms for embedded and commercial applications, working across silicon, firmware, and software to deliver reliable, high‑performance solutions at scale.

The Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Data Center Architect to drive strategic engagement with hyperscale and large‑scale data center customers. This role will serve as a critical bridge between customer architecture teams and internal engineering, shaping next‑generation infrastructure solutions leveraging custom ASIC and FPGA technologies.

The ideal candidate has deep experience working directly with hyperscalers, understands large‑scale data center design tradeoffs, and has a proven track record influencing platform architectures across networking, server control, and storage domains.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead technical engagement with hyperscalers and mega data center customers to define next‑generation platform architectures
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to customer architecture, silicon, and infrastructure teams across multiple functional areas
  • Drive alignment between customer requirements and internal roadmap for custom ASIC and FPGA‑based solutions
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with engineering, product, and business teams to shape solution strategy and execution
  • Define and influence architectures across key domains including:
    • High‑performance NIC / networking acceleration
    • Server platform control / manageability (BMC, DC‑SCM, etc.)
    • Storage virtualization and data movement acceleration
  • Translate hyperscaler use cases into scalable product and platform requirements
  • Support business development efforts including customer presentations, executive engagements, and long‑term strategic planning
Required Qualifications
  • 12+ years of experience in data center architecture, silicon platforms, or hyperscaler infrastructure
  • Proven experience working directly with hyperscalers or large‑scale cloud/data center operators
  • Strong cross‑functional engagement skills with customer engineering, architecture, and operations teams
  • Deep technical experience in custom ASIC design and/or FPGA‑based solutions
  • Solid understanding of modern data center architecture, including networking, compute, storage, and system management
  • Experience influencing or defining platform architectures in large‑scale deployments
Preferred Qualifications
  • Expertise in one or more focus areas:
    • SmartNICs / DPUs / network offload architectures
    • Server management and platform control (BMC, firmware, system management)
    • Storage acceleration, disaggregation, and virtualization
  • Experience bringing custom silicon solutions from concept to deployment at hyperscale
  • Familiarity with PCIe, CXL, high‑speed interconnects, and data center protocols
  • Ability to operate at both deep technical and executive engagement levels
Leadership Profile
  • Strategic thinker with strong customer‑facing presence
  • Proven ability to influence both internal roadmaps and external customer architectures
  • Strong communication skills across engineering and executive audiences
