Job Summary

Join our dynamic Global Privacy Legal Team as a transformational Legal Privacy Director. Your expertise in US and global data protection laws will shape the future of privacy in the world of digital entertainment, crafting innovative, business‑friendly privacy solutions that advance PlayStation’s video games and technology initiatives worldwide.

Candidate Profile
  • Strategic focus across people management, legal and compliance advice across the Americas and global privacy matters, and programmatic work to design, implement, and optimize privacy processes.

  • Success measured by creating privacy‑enhanced customer and player experiences while mitigating risk.
What You’ll Be Doing
  • Lead a team of privacy legal experts advising the business across the Americas, counseling on laws such as COPPA, CCPA, and related state and federal regulations.
  • Partner with the SIE Global Privacy Team to maintain and scale the global privacy program.
  • Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams—Product, Engineering, Information Security, IT, Marketing—and legal specialists to solve privacy and data issues and deliver exceptional entertainment experiences.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for new and evolving data protection laws, breach notification requirements, and other regulatory developments affecting personal information in the United States, providing practical strategic advice.
  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of data privacy policies, standards, and processes supporting SIE’s Americas operations.
  • Advise on balancing consumer privacy protection with strategic data collection and usage.
What We Are Looking For
  • At least 15 years of proven experience managing US domestic and global privacy and related data protection compliance issues, including supervisory or managerial roles.
  • California bar membership preferred; otherwise, eligibility to obtain and maintain a Registered In‑House Counsel status in California during employment.
  • Experience creating and implementing privacy and international data protection policies, maintaining an agile compliance program that responsibly uses consumer, customer, and employee data.
  • Familiarity with social privacy issues, data lifecycle, governance, and emerging technologies such as AI.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey complex legal, technical, and business concepts to non‑legal stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Privacy certifications such as CIPP/US or CIPP/E preferred.
Travel and Working Hours

International travel and calls that may occur during early or late hours due to time zone differences may be required.

Compensation

$271,300 — $406,900 USD (estimated base pay range).
