Job summary

TAIT seeks a Director, Technical Direction, Portable in Orlando to lead the Portable Technical Direction team for Live and Brand projects. You will ensure quality, safety, and commercial effectiveness across the project lifecycle, while shaping strategy, staffing, and processes.

You will partner with market leadership to translate strategy into actionable priorities, expanding the Technical Direction framework and elevating standards across TAIT’s portable portfolio worldwide.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, technical theater, design, or related field. (required)
• 10+ years in technical direction or delivery with 4+ years in people leadership.
• Proven track record delivering complex Live/Brand/portable projects at scale.
• Broad technical knowledge across automation, rigging, structures, AVL, show control, drafting, manufacturing.
• Experience establishing technical and team processes.
• Strong commercial acumen: scope, resourcing, schedules, risk, budgets.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategy, team development, workload planning, and resourcing of Portable Technical Direction across Live and Brand.
• Represent Innovate within Portable Market Leadership on technical solutions, capacity, and priorities.
• Shape and evolve the Portable Technical Direction operating model and role expectations.
• Define and evolve the Technical Direction strategy for portable work and expand the role of Technical Directors.
• Refine and enforce Technical Direction's role in TAIT Project Process and interactions with Market leaders.
• Sponsor standards, process, and training to drive high-quality, consistent delivery.
• Build and maintain workforce and succession plans for Technical Directors and Draftspeople.
• Set expectations for direct reports and manage performance and development paths.
• Align core Technical Direction processes, standards, metrics, and shared learning across markets.
