Job summary

Stellarus is seeking a Director of Platform Engineering and Tools to lead the Commercial team's engineering foundation, reporting to the VP of Platform Operations, and partnering with Application, Data, and AI teams to accelerate product delivery.

This hybrid role emphasizes strong leadership, cloud expertise, DevSecOps proficiency, and the ability to align technical strategy with business value for senior stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/IT/MIS or equivalent experience; 4 years additional relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
• 10 years prior relevant experience in software engineering, infrastructure, or platform.
• 6 years of prior people management experience with direct responsibility for supervising, coaching, and evaluating direct reports.
• Demonstrated success leading engineering organizations through DevSecOps and cloud transformation, including hands-on familiarity with CI/CD tooling, GitOps workflows, and modern release practices.
• Strong working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), infrastructure automation, multi-cluster environments with an understanding of multi-tenancy and security.
• Track record of cross-functional influence, translating technical strategy into business value for non-technical stakeholders and building trusted relationships with senior leadership.
• Preferred Master's degree in CS/IT/MIS.
• Preferred 6 years leading technical teams - including at least 5 years managing multiple concurrent teams across diverse disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Director role and partner with VP Platform Operations to accelerate delivery of Stellarus products.
• Drive DevSecOps and cloud transformation with hands-on CI/CD tooling and GitOps practices.
• Translate technical strategy into business value for senior leadership and stakeholders.
• Directly supervise and coach multiple engineering teams across disciplines in a high-performing environment.

Your Role

The Stellarus Commercial team builds the products to power Healthcare Payors through modern technology and AI. The Director of Platform Engineering and Tools will report to the VP, Platform Operations. In this role you will partner closely with our Application, Data, and AI teams to establish a technical foundation that accelerates the delivery of our products. This role is a key aspect of our ability to accelerate the changes needed in healthcare.

Your Knowledge and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, MIS, or High School Diploma/GED and 4 years of additional relevant experience in lieu of a degree
• 10 years prior relevant experience in software engineering, infrastructure, or platform
• 6 years of prior people management experience with direct responsibility for supervising, coaching, and evaluating direct reports

Hybrid

This role requires employees to be in-office based on our hybrid workplace model, balancing purposeful in-person collaboration with flexibility. For most teams, this means coming into the office two days each week.

Employees living more than 50 miles from an office location will work with their manager to determine in‑office time based on business need.
