  • GMP experience is required.
  • Experience with ERP modules including SAP WMS is preferred.

Job description

The Director, Planning, Warehouse & Logistics provides strategic and operational leadership for the Roche Philadelphia site’s supply chain function and team.


This role oversees production planning, inventory management, warehouse operations, and ERP data integrity within a strict cGMP framework.


This role will also balance cost containment with supply security, collaborate seamlessly with regional and global partners, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and talent development.


The Opportunity:

Leads and manages a Local Site Supply Chain function and team.


Responsibilities typically include Production & Capacity Planning, materials planning, production scheduling, and inventory management to support procurement and/or production/manufacturing operations.


Where applicable, ensures supply chain activities are conducted in accordance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) requirements and Roche corporate standards.


Responsibilities may also include planning and scheduling processes for maintenance and other facilities activities.


Typically implements and maintains procedures, processes, workflows, and systems to effectively and efficiently manage supply chain planning and scheduling.


Where applicable, facilitates production planning and inventory management interactions and communications with other local, regional and global partners and stakeholders, including resolution for any issues associated with inventories, production and non-production plans and schedules or other supply chain management activities.


Manage Warehouse and Distribution operations.


Implement strategies to optimize inventory and material movement, balancing strict cost containment with supply security.


Maintain the integrity of ERP Master Data to ensure accurate, system-based planning and reporting.


With team, drives for continuous improvement, operational excellence, innovation, cost containment, and high quality processes across supply chain processes.


Lead, select, develop, and evaluate the functional team to ensure efficient operations and foster a pipeline of talent.

Who You Are:

BS degree in a life-sciences, business logistics, or supply chain management, or related field is required


A minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience within the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry is required.


A minimum of ten (10) years supply chain, logistics and/or operations knowledge, with a minimum of five (5) years in a leadership position with direct reports is required


Experience working in a GMP environment is required


Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) modules including familiarity with SAP Warehouse Management System (WMS) is required


Demonstrated experience utilizing LEAN manufacturing or LEAN warehousing principles is preferred


Experience in shipping / warehouse operations including various DOT, IATA/ICAO and Dry Ice in Transit regulations preferred


Demonstrated experience with cold-chain logistics and temperature-monitored pack-out solutions is preferred


Experience with product serialization / track-and-track preferred


Knowledge of Customs regulations and requirements for cross border movements of biopharmaceutical products, including clinical and commercial requirements is preferred


Knowledge of the Harmonized Tariff System and associated classifications, Preferential and Non-preferential Country of Origin designation rules, INCOTerms management and product valuation principles for Clinical/Commercial products is preferred


Direct experience with Regulatory Inspections is preferred.


Capital project experience is preferred


Strong knowledge of GXP compliance as well as USP, EP, ICH and FDA guidelines is preferred


Role is expected to be onsite, minimal travel required


Relocation benefits are not available for this position.


The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is $149,200 to $277,000. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
