Job summary

Mix Talent is seeking a Peptide Discovery Director for a stealth mode biotech in the San Francisco Bay Area. You will lead peptide drug discovery programs, coordinate with CROs, and drive optimization campaigns to deliver clinical candidates.

In this role you will work with research leadership in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple projects with external partners, and shape strategies to improve potency, stability, and oral bioavailability.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry or related fields with 5 years of peptide drug discovery experience.
• Deep experience in peptide discovery workflows and optimization of potency, stability, and biophysical properties.
• Experience with structural analysis tools and proposing non-canonical modifications to peptides.
• Medicinal chemistry experience related to peptides and non-canonical modifications.
• Experience engineering peptides for oral bioavailability.
• Ability to manage multiple CRO projects and lead programs.
• Program leadership experience in biotech or pharma.
• Ability to work flexibly in a virtual environment with external partners.
• Independent self-starter with strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Work with partner CROs on design and implementation of peptide discovery and optimization campaigns
• Collaborate with biology leads to design and implement peptide hit screening funnels
• Devise lead optimization strategies to identify drug candidates
• Interrogate strategies to improve oral bioavailability
