This leader will shape, amplify, and sustain a culture that enables meta-AbbVie, accelerates execution of the business strategy and strengthens organizational performance. This role extends beyond traditional employee engagement, communications, or culture stewardship and is accountable for embedding culture into how the enterprise operates, makes decisions, develops leaders, deploys talent, rewards performance, collaborates, innovates, and delivers results. The role will translate AbbVie's cultural aspirations into practical expectations, mechanisms, and measures across business functions and geographies. The successful candidate will serve as an architect and catalyst for enterprise-wide transformation. They will partner with senior business and HR leaders to integrate culture into operating models, organizational processes, leadership behaviors, performance measures, ways of working, strategic transformation, and employee experience. The role manages an integrated Culture function, including Organizational Research, connecting employee listening, organizational research, external trends, and workforce insights to culture priorities and enterprise action.

Core Responsibilities

Enterprise Culture Strategy, Stewardship & Amplification

  • Define and continuously evolve AbbVie's enterprise culture strategy as a core enabler of meta-AbbVie, the business strategy, HR and talent strategy.
  • Serve as executive steward of AbbVie's culture, ensuring priorities are clear, visible, differentiated, measurable, and connected to enterprise outcomes.
  • Create and execute a multi-year culture amplification roadmap that extends beyond HR processes and activates culture through leadership, organizational systems, business practices, and employee experiences.
  • Protect what is distinctive and valuable in AbbVie's culture while intentionally evolving the behaviors and ways of working needed for the future.
  • Establish governance, decision rights, operating rhythms, and accountability mechanisms that sustain the enterprise culture agenda.
Enterprise Integration & Business Enablement
  • Partner with business functions to translate enterprise culture priorities into relevant functional and local actions while preserving a coherent enterprise direction.
  • Identify and influence the operational levers that reinforce culture, including processes, methodologies, incentives, measures, decision practices, role modeling, and resource allocation.
  • Build mechanisms that connect culture to business performance, innovation, organizational effectiveness, employee experience, and strategy execution.
  • Advise transformation leaders on the mindsets, behaviors, capabilities, and adoption of conditions required for sustainable change.
meta‑AbbVie & Talent Strategy Integration
  • Position culture as a connective enterprise capability across meta‑AbbVie, talent, leadership, organization effectiveness, workforce planning, employee listening, and AI‑enabled work.
  • Partner with Talent, Leadership Development, Organizational Effectiveness, Workforce Planning, and AI teams to embed culture across the talent lifecycle and the future of work.
  • Ensure leadership expectations, succession strategies, capability building, talent investments, performance systems, and employee experiences reinforce AbbVie's desired culture.
  • Use culture to accelerate adoption of strategic enterprise priorities, new capabilities, digital enablement, and responsible AI integration.
  • Build readiness for future work by fostering adaptability, continuous learning, innovation, enterprise collaboration, inclusion, and accountability.
Executive Influence & Leadership Alignment
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the CHRO, senior HR leaders, and enterprise executives on culture, transformation, leadership effectiveness, and organizational performance.
  • Align senior leaders around the cultural shifts, leadership behaviors, trade-offs, and accountabilities required to deliver AbbVie's priorities.
  • Facilitate executive dialogue and decisions on complex culture and organizational transformation challenges.
  • Equip leaders to translate enterprise culture priorities into meaningful actions for their organizations and teams.
  • Represent AbbVie's culture agenda internally and, where appropriate, through external forums and thought leadership.
Competencies

  • Exceptional executive presence, credibility, facilitation, storytelling, and influence across levels, functions, and geographies.
  • Consulting‑caliber problem solving with the ability to diagnose complex organizational issues and translate ambiguity into focused action.
  • Deep expertise in culture transformation, organizational effectiveness, behavioral change, employee listening, leadership effectiveness, and large‑scale change.
  • Strong business acumen and an outcome‑oriented approach to value creation in a complex, global, regulated environment.
  • Analytical rigor and comfort using qualitative and quantitative evidence to shape executive decisions.
