Job summary

LVT is seeking a Director of User Experience to lead design across a multi‑product ecosystem, from physical hardware to web and mobile software. You will shape the UX strategy, build a scalable design system, and champion AI-native workflows within a growing team.

About This Role

LVT's product experience spans the physical unit, the deployment and setup process, and the web and mobile software people use to monitor their sites and respond when something happens. As we build toward our vision Intelligent Site Management (ISM), that experience is becoming a more complex, multi‑product ecosystem — and the person in this role owns making it feel like one coherent product rather than a collection of parts.

We're looking for a Director of User Experience to lead design across that full ecosystem. This is a leadership role for someone who combines strong design judgment and hands‑on craft with the ability to build and scale a design function, influence at the executive level, and shape how AI changes what design, product, and engineering can each produce. UX design itself is changing quickly with GenAI-native tools — we expect this leader to bring that shift into how the team works, not just into the product.

Key Responsibilities

• Set the UX vision and design strategy across LVT's full product ecosystem — hardware, deployment, and software — and represent design in cross‑functional planning and roadmap prioritization.
• Platform‑Scale UX: own the end‑to‑end user experience across a complex, multi‑product ecosystem, connecting distinct product lines into a cohesive operational workflow in service of the ISM vision.
• Complex Product Transformation: translate highly technical, data‑dense systems — sensor feeds, device telemetry, live monitoring — into intuitive, high‑end experiences for security and operations customers.
• Leadership & Scaling: lead, build, and mentor a full design function, guiding career growth for designers and researchers rather than only managing task delivery.
• AI‑Era Integration: drive AI‑native product design and champion adoption of AI‑powered workflows (e.g., tools like Claude) within design and engineering to accelerate delivery and raise quality.
• Cross‑Functional Advocacy: partner closely with Product, Engineering, and go‑to‑market teams while advocating for design‑led thinking at the executive level.
• Establish and maintain design standards, patterns, and a scalable design system that holds together across hardware and software surfaces.
• Champion user research and translate customer insight into product direction.
• Set and uphold the quality bar for design craft across the team, and contribute directly to design work on key initiatives as needed.
• Recruit, hire, and retain designers and researchers as the team grows.
• Report on design outcomes and their impact on product and business goals.

What Success Looks Like

Twelve months in, you will have:

• Published a UX strategy within your first 90 days and built support for it across Product and Engineering.
• Visibly raised the craft bar — work coming out of the team is more consistent, better grounded in customer needs, and holds together across hardware and software surfaces.
• Earned design a seat in roadmap and strategy conversations from the start, rather than receiving requirements after the fact.
• Matured the design system into something teams reach for by default, reducing pattern drift as the product ecosystem expands under the physical AI vision.
• Embedded AI‑native workflows into how the design team operates, with measurable gains in delivery speed or research synthesis.
• Developed the designers you inherited and hired well as the team's scope expands.

Qualifications

Required

• 8+ years of product design experience, including 3+ years leading and scaling a design team or function.
• A portfolio demonstrating end‑to‑end product design work with measurable outcomes, including at least one example of owning UX across a complex, multi‑product ecosystem.
• Experience transforming highly technical or data‑dense systems into intuitive, high‑end user experiences for enterprise or operational users.
• Experience owning or contributing significantly to a design system.
• Demonstrated AI‑native design leadership: able to describe specific ways you've driven adoption of AI‑powered tools and workflows within a design (and ideally engineering) organization, and what changed as a result — not just personal use of AI tools.
• Strong track record of cross‑functional advocacy — partnering with Product, Engineering, and go‑to‑market functions while advocating for design‑led thinking at the executive level.
• Experience planning and applying user research to product decisions.
• Proficiency with modern design and prototyping tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred

• Experience designing products where hardware and software work together.
• Background in B2B, operational, physical security, IoT, or monitoring software.
• Experience designing AI‑enabled product features.
• Experience in a high‑growth or scaling environment.
