Job summary

Swiss Re is seeking a Director, Underwriting Portfolio Engineering to lead data products, Palantir workflows and analytics that improve underwriting decisions and portfolio steering. This hands-on leadership role works with underwriting and portfolio teams to turn business questions into practical data solutions.

You will own delivery from analysis to adoption and impact, across end-to-end lifecycle, in a hybrid work model with colleagues across underwriting, portfolio management, data and IT.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience building, deploying and maintaining data products and analytical workflows in Palantir Foundry.
• Strong data modelling, transformation and production-grade development skills in Python/SQL.
• Ability to translate portfolio questions into actionable analytics and decisions.
• Delivery from problem definition through impact measurement with senior stakeholders.
• Understanding of underwriting economics, portfolio management, risk and capital in reinsurance or commercial insurance.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and deliver end-to-end solutions.

Responsibilities

• Build underwriting-specific data products, Palantir workflows and analytical tools for portfolio planning, capacity setting and steering.
• Turn material portfolio questions into reusable analytics and decision-support capabilities.
• Analyse performance, exposures, concentrations, dependencies and portfolio dynamics to support decisions.
• Own solutions end-to-end, from analysis and build through adoption, refinement and impact.
• Maintain engineering standards, controls, documentation and governance for robust, scalable tools.
• Lead mixed engineering, data and portfolio teams, strengthening capability and team effectiveness.
