Job summary

JOHN LEONARD is a professional fiduciary services firm seeking a Director of Trust Services to lead the trust department's day-to-day operations, oversee fiduciary oversight, and collaborate with beneficiaries, attorneys, and advisers to ensure thoughtful decision-making and long-term stewardship.

This senior role requires proven leadership, 7+ years in fiduciary services, and a track record of managing trust operations, service delivery, and business development.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership experience with people, operations, service delivery, process improvement, and business development.
• Experience serving as a Trust Officer, fiduciary professional, relationship manager, or in a comparable client-facing role
• Demonstrated ability to exercise sound fiduciary judgment and navigate complex beneficiary, trustee, and professional advisor relationships
• 7+ years of experience in fiduciary services, trust company operations, private wealth management, family office services, or related field
• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, economics, legal studies, or equivalent professional experience

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop Trust Officers, Trust Administrators, and fiduciary professionals.
• Manage departmental workflow, capacity planning, staffing priorities, and trust service delivery.
• Establish and improve trust administration procedures, workflows, service standards, and operational processes.
• Develop accountability systems, reporting metrics, and departmental performance measures.
• Serve as an escalation point for complex beneficiary, fiduciary, trustee, and advisor matters.
• Maintain selected trust relationships and provide fiduciary guidance to team members.
• Exercise sound fiduciary judgment when addressing complex trust and beneficiary matters.
• Participate in prospective client meetings and business development opportunities.
• Develop and maintain relationships with attorneys, financial advisors, accountants, care managers, and other referral sources.
• Identify opportunities to strengthen client relationships and expand fiduciary services.
• Partner with firm leadership on strategic initiatives, business growth, operational improvements, and long-term planning.
• Establish and maintain a culture of accountability, collaboration, and exceptional client service.
• Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes, and technology supporting trust department operations.
• Help develop the department's infrastructure and capabilities as the organization continues to grow.

About the Opportunity

Salary Range: $100K-$110K | Bonus Eligible

Schedule: Full-time | Monday-Friday, flexible hours between 8am-5:30pm

Required: Experience serving as a Trust Officer, fiduciary professional, relationship manager, or in a comparable client-facing role

This professional fiduciary services firm provides independent trustee, co-trustee, trust protector, and fiduciary advisory services to individuals, families, trusts, and estates. The organization works closely with beneficiaries, attorneys, accountants, financial advisors, care managers, and other professional advisors to provide thoughtful fiduciary oversight, objective decision-making, and long-term trust stewardship.

The Director of Trust Services will lead the day-to-day operations of the organization's trust department and serve as its senior fiduciary services leader.

Qualifications & Skills

• Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and make sound decisions in a growing organization
• Strong client-service orientation and the ability to build trusted relationships with clients and professional referral partners
• Ability to take ownership of responsibilities, establish accountability, and drive projects through completion
• Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, economics, legal studies, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
