Job summary

Aeluma, Inc. is seeking a Director of Test to lead the company-wide test strategy for advanced photonic devices.

You will manage internal testing and coordinate external testing at partner sites, driving calibration and data integrity across global operations. You will build and mentor a high-performing team, define test architectures, and collaborate with engineering and manufacturing to ensure readiness for high-volume production and long-term reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Physics (Ph.D. a plus).
• 10+ years of engineering leadership in Test/Manufacturing/Product Test within semiconductor/photonics; 5+ years leading teams.
• Subject matter expertise in manufacturing test architecture, equipment, instrumentation, fixtures, automation, and test software.
• Experience developing and qualifying test solutions for high-performance photonic devices from development to high-volume manufacturing.
• Proven ability to partner with foundries to deploy, qualify, and scale production test capability.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management with ability to influence executives.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

• Establish and maintain worldwide calibration frameworks to ensure absolute test consistency and data integrity.
• Own the test development function to define future test platform architectures and automation frameworks for next-generation products.
• Drive cross-functional problem solving to address complex test and characterization challenges with data-driven analytics.
• Contribute to product definition, FMEA, DFT, and root-cause analysis to maximize yield and reliability.

Position Summary

As Director of Test, you will work closely with Engineering and Manufacturing Operations to lead a team responsible for company-wide test strategy, equipment, and infrastructure for advanced photonic devices such as high-speed photodetectors, semiconductor lasers, and image sensors. In this role you will manage Aeluma’s internal testing capabilities and external testing at foundries other partner sites.

Responsibilities

• Manage and grow a team of engineers and technicians to deliver test solutions company-wide while promoting best practices in validation, test engineering, and measurement science.
• Define highly precise and accurate test protocols and manufacturing test architectures across component, subsystem, and final product test that scale for high-volume production throughput, yield, and cost efficiency.
• Develop robust test data infrastructure that seamlessly syncs data pipelines, automation tracking, and test results between internal systems and worldwide foundry and other manufacturing partner data systems.
• Ensure manufacturing test readiness at partner sites by collaborating across Engineering and Manufacturing Operations to develop, qualify, and launch production test capabilities.
• Establish and maintain worldwide calibration frameworks across multiple internal and external sites to ensure absolute test consistency, repeatability, and data integrity.
• Own the test development function to define future test platform architectures, instrumentation, and automation frameworks required for next-generation products.
• Drive cross-functional problem solving for complex test and characterization challenges, utilizing data-informed analytics to resolve operational issues.
• Contribute to product definition, FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis), Design for Testability (DFT), and root-cause finding activities during all phases of development to maximize production yield and long-term reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field (Ph.D. is a plus).
• 10+ years of engineering leadership experience in Test Engineering, Manufacturing Test, or Product Test within semiconductor, photonics, electronics, including 5+ years leading teams.
• Subject matter expertise in manufacturing test architecture, test equipment, instrumentation, fixtures, automation, and test software.
• Experience developing and qualifying test solutions for high-performance photonic devices from development through high-volume manufacturing.
• Proven ability to partner with foundries to deploy, qualify, and scale production test capability.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence executive stakeholders and build high-performing teams.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
