Job summary

Kennedy Jenks seeks a transformational leader to shape future technical project delivery and strengthen client relationships. Based in any KJ market nationwide, the role leads professionals and advances technical excellence across infrastructure projects for communities nationwide.

Requirements include a PE license (preferred), 10+ years in design/engineering consulting, and 4+ years of leadership experience. Hybrid work model with two days in-office per week is offered.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of design/engineering consulting experience, preferably in water/wastewater.
  • 4+ years of leadership experience managing supervisors and project teams.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred.
  • Proven leadership experience building high-performing teams and mentoring leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Support development and advise Kennedy Jenks’ Technical Services teams and discipline leaders across Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, CAD, Architectural and Instrumentation and Controls.
  • Lead multidisciplinary projects and ensure successful delivery across Kennedy Jenks.
  • Promote design delivery that aligns with Kennedy Jenks’ standards and quality expectations.
  • Foster collaboration across engineering, environmental, scientific, and technical disciplines.
  • Partner with business managers and project managers to align resources with business needs.
  • Advance technical excellence, quality, and continuous improvement through the firm’s risk and quality programs.
  • Travel nationwide 25–50% to collaborate with clients and offices as needed.

What You'll Do

Support thedevelopment andadviseKJ’sTechnical Services teams and discipline leadersincluding Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, CAD, Architectural and Instrumentation and Controls.

Support the successful delivery of multidisciplinary projects across Kennedy Jenks.

Promote efficient design deliveryin accordance withKennedy Jenks’ standards and procedures toassurecompliance withstandard ofcare.

Promote collaboration across engineering, environmental, scientific, and technical disciplines.

Partner withbusinessmanagers,projectmanagers, andbusinessdevelopment leaders to align resources with business needs.

Work collaborativelywithKennedy Jenksquality andriskprogramstoadvance technical excellence, quality, innovation, and continuous improvement.

25%-50%travel nationwide to collaborate with clients and various KJ offices and teams as needed.

What You Brin g
Education:

Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering field required; master’s degree preferred.

TechnicalExperience:

10+years ofdesignengineering consulting experience,preferablywithin water/wastewater.

ManagementExperience:

4+ years of leadership experience managing supervisors, team leaders, and project teams.

Licensure:

Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred.

Additional Qualifications

Proven leadership experience managing teams, departments, technical organizations, or business units, including the development and oversight of supervisors and other leaders.

Experience supporting complex infrastructure, environmental, water/wastewater, industrial, or engineering consulting projects.

Strong business acumen and ability to partner effectively across Operations, Business Development, Project Management, and Technical Services functions.

Demonstrated ability to navigate competing priorities, make sound decisions, and drive organizational results in a fast-paced environment.

Strong understanding of multidisciplinary engineering, project delivery, resource planning, andfinancial management.

Proven success developing employees, mentoring leaders, and building high-performing teams through both direct leadership and influence.

Proficiencywith Microsoft Office Suite and business management systems, along with excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.

Kennedy Jenks supports a healthy work-life balance and utilizesa hybrid model of home and office work, with a minimum of two days per week in the office.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $170,000 – $240,000, depending on education, experience, qualifications, licensure/certifications, and geographic location.
