Job summary

Vanderbilt Tullahoma-Harton Hospital is seeking a Director of Surgical Services to lead its perioperative operations. You will oversee OR, Pre-Op, PACU, Central Sterile Processing, Outpatient Surgery, GI, and Procedural Services, reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer, with two direct reports.

The ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree, 3+ years of hospital leadership in perioperative services, and a proven track record in quality, safety, and financial improvement within a growing health

Qualifications

• Master's degree required; MSN preferred.
• Minimum of three years of progressive hospital leadership experience.
• Leadership experience within Operating Room/Surgical Services required.
• Strong knowledge of perioperative operations, including OR, PACU, Same-Day Surgery, and Sterile Processing.
• Experience with Pathway to Excellence program.
• Proven ability to build collaborative relationships with physicians, anesthesia teams, and multidisciplinary stakeholders.
• Demonstrated success leading operational improvement, quality initiatives, and departmental growth.
• Strong financial, business, and resource management skills.
• Exceptional communication, leadership, team building, and conflict resolution abilities.
• Visible, engaged leader who thrives in a dynamic environment and is energized by growth and transformation.

Responsibilities

• Lead a growing perioperative platform performing approximately 2,600 surgical cases and 3,700 total procedures annually.
• Partner with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and CRNAs to drive performance.
• Drive service line growth initiatives, including recruitment efforts in GI and Urology.
• Lead quality, safety, patient experience, operational efficiency, and financial performance initiatives.

Kirby Bates Associates has been exclusively retained by Vanderbilt Tullahoma-Harton Hospital to conduct a national search for their next Director, Surgical Services.

Reporting directly to the Chief Nursing Officer, this leader will oversee all aspects of perioperative services, including the Operating Room, Pre-Op, PACU, Central Sterile Processing, Outpatient Surgery, GI, and Procedural Services. Direct reports: two Managers. Vanderbilt Tullahoma-Harton Hospital is a 135-bed acute care hospital serving Coffee County and surrounding communities.
