Director Of Supply Chain Summary

The Director of Supply Chain of AJR Enterprises, a UFP Technologies company, is responsible for defining the regional supply chain strategy across sourcing, procurement, logistics, trade compliance, planning, warehouse, and inventory control operations for all entities: AJE, ASP, CFP, and AJI. Leads supply chain design and deployment for a growing multi-site manufacturing footprint, including warehouse infrastructure, replenishment systems, material flow optimization, and future-state network design. Leads supply chain transformation, including ERP-enabled process redesign, system improvement, and the buildout of scalable supply chain infrastructure.

The role collaborates with the General Manager, Director of Product Development, Director of Operations, Director of Continuous Improvement, customers, and other organizational leaders to evaluate new suppliers and materials and to develop and manage strategic supplier relationships. The Director of Supply Chain is also engaged in purchasing and distributing raw materials, equipment, machinery, supplies, products, and services from vendors to maintain production levels at the highest quality and lowest cost. The position works toward common procurement, sourcing, and spend goals across all plants within the division and develops and educates team members on best practices for divisional sourcing functions.

Director Of Supply Chain Duties And Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the entire SIOP processes (Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning)
  • Develops and leads regional supply chain strategy aligned with business objectives.
  • Leads ERP-enabled supply chain transformation (Sage environment).
  • Builds processes, controls, and data integrity across the supply chain.
  • Leads all trade compliance related activities collaborating with customers, sales, commercial team, logistics, and external consultants.
  • Continuously monitors changes in the trade regulatory compliance legal framework. Investigates best practices for free trade agreements compliance, duty drawback processes, tariff classifications definitions, sanctions screening: Restricted Party Screening (RPS) and Denied Party Screening (DPS).
  • Promotes Safety, Security and regulatory compliance in all Supply Chain activities.
  • Ensures supply chain activities comply with customer quality agreements, trade and logistics regulations, and applicable quality system requirements, including CFR 820 and ISO 13485.
  • Supports engineering procurement requirements in support of product development.
  • Establishes purchasing and inventory management policies and procedures to accomplish procurement of a variety of materials in a cost-effective manner and ensures compliance within the company.
  • Establishes and maintains purchasing authorization limits in accordance with corporate policies and internal controls.
  • Leads sourcing RFP and RFQ processes; sources, negotiates, and manages vendor-supplied materials, contracts, and services to support manufacturing operations.
  • Examines and awards bids. Negotiates blanket purchases when appropriate and monitors cost.
  • Reviews and approves purchase requisitions, vendor quotes, and bids within established authorization limits.
  • Establishes supply programs (VMI, Consignment, JIT, Safety Stocks, Kanban, etc.) and provides demand forecast and PO coverage to all suppliers to prevent any supply constraints and disruptions.
  • Uses lean methodologies for materials management, planning, procurement, receiving, warehousing, inventory control etc. (Pull Systems, Value Stream Transformations, PFEP (Plan for every part), Kanban replenishment, Materials flow, warehouse layout, Heijunka boards, Visual Management, Kaizen Leadership, Hoshin Kanri, etc.).
  • New Warehouse in the AJI Site start-up responsibility.
  • Monitors delinquent deliveries and takes action to resolve any supply constraints to prevent disruptions for production and our customers.
  • Establishes periodic cycle count process based on spend ABC classification.
  • Assists the GM and Director of Finance in the completion of physical inventories. Reconciles inventories and reports to accounting.
  • Leads, manages and monitors inventory levels, on-time shipment of finished goods, and the procurement.
  • Drives improvements in inventory accuracy and material traceability.
  • Implements programs to reduce slow moving and obsolete inventories.
  • Analyzes demand and supply trends to determine the timing and extent of purchase commitments for both direct and indirect materials.
  • Owns the master scheduling strategy, ensuring demand planning, production planning governance, and supply planning remain aligned at all times.
  • Analyzes demand/supply trends to drive decisions on procurement and inventory.
  • Develops and maintains a Plan For Every Part (PFEP) methodology across the supply chain network.
  • Establishes forecasting and replenishment strategies.
  • Oversees expediting deliveries, processing and accuracy of supply chain-related invoices, and departmental records.
  • Partners with internal stakeholders, including Operations, Product Development, Quality, Finance, and leadership, to support business objectives and customer requirements.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned or needed.
Director Of Supply Chain Qualification Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration required, MBA or equivalent preferred.
  • 12+ years' experience in comparable manufacturing business and high volume / cost purchasing.
  • 5+ years in multi-site or regional supply chain leadership roles.
  • Experience leading end-to-end supply chain functions.
  • Proven success leading supply chain transformations including ERP optimization, inventory reduction, warehouse redesign, planning system implementation, or network expansion initiatives.
  • Demonstrated excellent negotiation and problem-solving skills to perform job duties independently and make decisions which meet company goals and objectives. Must be able to independently analyze data and determine appropriate course of action.
  • Demonstrated strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication/negotiation skills to perform job duties successfully.
  • ERP / MRP and other supply chain systems knowledge. Data analysis and advanced MS Excell skills are required.
  • Must be able to work on-site 5 days a week at the St. Charles, IL location.
  • Periodic travel to the Dominican Republic sites is required. Up to 50%.
