Operating 4 production facilities in the United States, we are the leading global producer of high-quality chromium chemicals for a variety of applications. Reliability, safety, and environmental sustainability drive our business, along with our experienced and knowledgeable chemical manufacturing teams.

We are seeking a highly capable and hands‑on Director of Supply Chain to develop, lead, and optimize all aspects of the supply chain function for a global chromium chemical manufacturing organization at our Castle Hayne, NC manufacturing plant. This role oversees strategic sourcing, procurement, production planning, inventory management, logistics, warehousing, transportation, customer fulfillment, and supplier relationship management while ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities
Strategic Supply Chain Leadership
  • Develop and execute supply chain strategies that align with corporate objectives and manufacturing requirements.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for procurement, inventory management, logistics, planning, and customer fulfillment.
  • Identify and mitigate supply chain risks related to raw material availability, transportation disruptions, geopolitical issues, regulatory compliance, and market volatility.
  • Support long-range business planning, capital projects, and capacity expansion initiatives.
  • Provide regular reports and strategic recommendations to leadership.
Procurement and Supplier Management
  • Oversee sourcing and procurement of critical raw materials used in chromium chemical manufacturing.
  • Develop and maintain strategic supplier relationships to ensure reliable supply, quality performance, and competitive pricing.
  • Lead contract negotiations and supplier performance management activities.
  • Establish dual-sourcing and contingency plans for critical materials and services.
Material Supply Management
  • Ensure reliable sourcing strategies that support uninterrupted production and business continuity.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of global chrome ore markets, availability, pricing trends, and supply risks.
  • Build and manage relationships with mining companies, traders, processors, and strategic suppliers operating in key chrome-producing regions.
  • Monitor global market conditions and proactively develop mitigation plans to address supply disruptions, shortages, or cost escalation.
Production Planning and Inventory Management
  • Direct the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process to balance customer demand with production capabilities.
  • Manage inventory levels of raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods.
  • Ensure accurate forecasting and inventory planning to support uninterrupted plant operations.
  • Improve inventory accuracy, inventory turns, and material availability.
Global Logistics and Worldwide Distribution
  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight of worldwide transportation and logistics operations, including ocean, rail, and truck freight.
  • Manage domestic and international shipments of chrome ore, chemical intermediates, and finished products.
  • Ensure compliance with import/export requirements, customs regulations, trade compliance standards, and hazardous material transportation regulations.
  • Develop relationships with freight forwarders, customs brokers, ocean carriers, trucking providers, and third‑party logistics partners.
  • Lead resolution of customs delays, port congestion, transportation interruptions, and regulatory issues.
Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, transportation, customs, trade, and safety regulations.
  • Support compliance associated with hazardous materials handling, storage, transportation, and export activities.
  • Lead supply chain contingency planning and business continuity initiatives.
Financial and Operational Management
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets and financial performance objectives.
  • Monitor procurement, inventory, logistics, and transportation costs.
  • Analyze supply chain performance metrics and prepare reports for company leadership.
  • Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning processes.
Leadership and Team Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop procurement, planning, inventory control, logistics, customer service, and warehouse personnel.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Establish succession planning and workforce development strategies.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Operations, Sales, Finance, Engineering, EHS, and HR teams.
  • Support customer requirements through effective coordination of supply chain activities.
  • Provide supply chain expertise for new product introductions and growth initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, Operations Management, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field required.
  • MBA or other advanced degree preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive supply chain leadership experience within the specialty chemicals, mining, metals, or related industrial chemical manufacturing industries.
  • Minimum of 5 years leading procurement, planning, inventory management, logistics, warehousing, and customer fulfillment functions.
  • Extensive experience managing domestic and international logistics operations, including worldwide shipments, ocean freight, import/export compliance, customs management, and global distribution networks.
  • Demonstrated experience sourcing and managing the global supply chain for chrome ore, chromite concentrates, chromium-bearing raw materials, and other critical feedstocks preferred.
  • Experience mitigating risks associated with global supply chains, commodity markets, transportation disruptions, tariffs, and geopolitical events.
  • Strong understanding of chemical manufacturing and process industry supply chains.
  • Expertise in strategic sourcing, procurement, supplier negotiations, and contract management.
  • Strong understanding of hazardous materials transportation and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or comparable platforms. Experience with JDE is preferred but not required
  • Strong financial acumen and leadership capabilities.
