Job summary

Russell County Schools is seeking a Transportation Director to lead the district's transportation program, ensuring safe, efficient, and economical service for students. The role oversees day-to-day operations of a large bus fleet and directs staff and budgetary activities.

Responsibilities include developing transportation strategies, coordinating schedules with schools, maintaining preventive maintenance, and ensuring compliance with laws and district policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Experience managing day-to-day operations of a large school bus fleet preferred.
• Experience managing a large diverse workforce is required.
• Must have Alabama CDL and Bus Driver Certification.
• Must pass drug screening and meet background clearance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a system-wide transportation program for daily and extracurricular activities.
• Direct and manage the transportation function for the public school system.
• Project needs for additional or replacement buses.
• Plan inservice training programs for bus drivers.
• Maintain a preventive maintenance schedule for buses and other vehicles.
• Coordinate with school personnel to schedule services and address issues.
