Bunzl, a global leader in cleaning, packaging and safety, is seeking a Director of Sales, West. The role leads 2–4 Regional Sales Managers, drives revenue, and partners with retailers and distributors across the western U.S. to expand market share.

The candidate will travel up to 50% nationwide, build strategic relationships, and mentor a high-performing team while delivering strong sales results and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of sales leadership delivering high-quality results.
• Deep knowledge of the Convenience Store Channel with retail and distributor experience preferred.
• Experience hiring, training and developing a high-performing sales team.
• Strong verbal, negotiating and communication skills; resilient in tough conversations.

Responsibilities

• Direct leadership of 2-4 Regional Sales Managers.

• Lead meetings to share best practices for revenue and margin growth.

The Director of Sales, West is responsible for managing sales efforts, and leading our west based Regional Sales Managers while maintaining/growing sales with our customers in convenience retail, and wholesale distribution.

Candidates must reside in, or within reasonable commuting distance of, one of the following metropolitan areas: Dallas, TX; Denver, CO; Phoenix, AZ; Salt Lake City, UT or Portland, OR.

Responsibilities:

• Direct people leadership of 2-4 Regional Sales Managers
• Nurture and grow existing business relationships by serving as a strategic adviser to decision makers within our West customer base
• Responsible for leading a culture of continuous development, teamwork, customer focus and strong sales results
• Lead regular team and cross functional meetings to facilitate discussion and the sharing of innovative ideas and best practices related to growing sales revenue and margin
• Collaborate on major account activities with assigned representatives to increase/maintain volume and product penetration
• Responsible for day-to-day sales activity and achievement of revenue goals through the delivery of sales pipelines, forecasts, and pricing
• Deep understanding of the sales processes with the ability to engage the team in setting and achieving sales goals
• Personally manage a small number of key Convenience Retail Chain Accounts
• Flexibility to frequently travel throughout the continental U.S
• Industry trade show, company and customer meeting planning
• Regular participation with team customer meetings, providing support and leadership for team members and customers
• Communicate and coordinate with internal staff (Purchasing, Customer Service, Accounting and Merchandising) to maximize customer satisfaction
• Travel required for periodic mandatory company meetings, to include overnight stays

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Bachelor's degree preferred in Business related field
• Proven track record as a sales leader for 5+yrs of delivering high-quality results, including consecutively exceeding past sales goals
• Deep knowledge of the Convenience Store Channel within and experience selling into retail and distributors strongly preferred
• People leadership experience, including the ability to hire, train and develop a high preforming sales team alongside ability to retrain proven sales producers
• Able to multi-task, work, and prioritize based on daily priorities and workload
• Extensive Convenience Channel key account management experience
• A dynamite problem solver and project manager. You’re always thinking (at least) one step ahead
• Demonstrated record of achievement throughout selling career
• Strong verbal, negotiating and communication skills. Resilient in the face of tough conversations
• Strong customer-centric, relationship and retention ability
• Ability to foster teamwork with peers in all cross functional departments
• Ability to travel up to 50% of the time

Colorado salary range: $120K-$150K per year based on experience, education and geographic location; annual bonus program
