Job description

Job Description:

The Neighborhood Developers (TND) is hiring a full-time, hybrid Director of Resource Development to lead our fundraising and communications. This is an opportunity to lead a fun and results-oriented team within a creative and successful community-based organization, which doesn’t come around often. Are you enthusiastic about housing justice? Do you believe everyone deserves to have financial stability and a good job? Do you agree that people with lived experience should make the policy decisions that affect them? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then this position could be for you!

TND is a non-profit community development organization with a mission to create strong neighborhoods enabling community members to secure a stable home, achieve economic mobility, and determine their own future. We build affordable homes, organize community leaders, and, through our CONNECT program, support households to access public benefits, find better jobs, and expand their financial prospects. TND is headquartered in Chelsea, where it has operated since 1978. The organization was invited into Revere in 2010, and since 2018, we are also offering some of our services in Everett. For more information see www.the neighborhooddevelopers.org. We offer competitive compensation and a full benefits package (click here and then scroll down). We seek to build the skills of our team members so that they can advance their career by providing regular professional development opportunities. Our Resource Development team of six close colleagues (including the Director) conducts funding research, writes grant proposals, stewards donors, manages our contracts, and leads our communications efforts. It has a strong fundraising track record and has successfully advanced TND’s mission and raised the organization’s profile at the local, regional, state, and national levels.

The Director of Resource Development leads the department, works closely with other senior team leaders, and in close partnership with the Executive Director. We currently submit about 60 proposals per year to foundations, corporate partners, and government agencies, generating about $2.5M annually, and bring in donations and sponsorships of about $350,000 per year. Our work is regularly mentioned in the media.

The Director of Resource Development is a hybrid position giving you the opportunity to work from home, or in the office, if you prefer, and as needed, with occasional in-person meetings and events based out of our beautiful office in Chelsea or in our communities. This is the first time this incredible position at TND is open in over 10 years.

  • As a member of TND’s Senior Team, coordinate strategic directions for the department and the organization.
