Job summary

Arden House (2) in Hamden, Connecticut seeks a Director of Recreation Services to lead and supervise the full scope of recreational programs in our nursing center. You will drive development, implementation, and evaluation of activities aligned with our mission to reach out with our hearts and touch the hearts of others.

Responsibilities include creating engaging programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, and collaborating with the management team to enhance clinical and customer service

Qualifications

• Certification per ADC or CTRS standards is required.
• Bachelor degree in therapeutic recreation or equivalent management course.
• At least 3 years as Recreation Director in a skilled nursing facility.
• OT or OT assistant qualification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive recreation programs for patients.
• Ensure compliance with federal/state regulations and internal policies.
• Collaborate with management to improve clinical and service excellence.
• Plan individual and group activities including art, music, and recreation.
• Maintain safety and infection control across programs.
• Monitor patient engagement and progress documentation.
• Supervise staff and volunteers delivering recreation services.
• Maintain records and reports for future planning.
• Meet program goals and assign special projects as needed.
• Order resources and manage supplies within budget.

About the Role:

As the Director of Recreation Services at Arden House, you will be responsible for the development, implementation, and supervision of the full scope of recreation services in our nursing center. Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement comprehensive recreation programs that cater to the needs, preferences, and abilities of our patients


• Ensure that recreation services are in compliance with federal and state regulations, and Highbridge policies and procedures


• Collaborate with the center management team to improve clinical, customer, staff, and business excellence


• Plan and organize individual and group programs, including art, music, and recreational activities


• Implement safety and infection control standards in all recreation programs


• Monitor and document patient responses, involvement, and progress within programs


• Supervise recreation staff and volunteers to ensure the delivery of quality recreation services


• Maintain accurate records and reports to improve future planning and evaluation


• Meet program goals and performance objectives


• Identify and assign special projects to enhance recreation services


• Order necessary resources, equipment, and supplies while maintaining a budget

Requirements:

• Certification in accordance with regulatory agencies governing the center, by the National Certification Council of Activity Professionals (ADC) or the National Council of Therapeutic Recreation Certification (CTRS)


• Bachelor degree in therapeutic recreation or completion of the NAAP/NCCAP Basic and Advanced Management Course for Activity Professionals


• 3 years of experience as a Recreation Director in a Skilled Nursing Facility


• Qualified Occupational Therapist or Occupational Therapy Assistant
