Job summary

Tree Top Staffing LLC seeks a Director of Quality for a precision aerospace/defense manufacturer in New Jersey to lead the QMS across casting, machining, and assembly. You will drive audits, RCCM, 8D and CAPA while helping ensure regulatory compliance and product excellence.

The role requires a strong background in metrology, GD&T, non-destructive testing, and ERP systems, plus a track record of cross-functional leadership. On-site work only with executive-level benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field; advanced degree a plus.
• 10+ years of progressive quality leadership in aerospace/defense/manufacturing.
• Deep knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, Nadcap, ITAR and related audits.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain a QMS aligned with AS9100/ISO 9001/Nadcap.
• Lead internal/external audits and regulatory compliance initiatives.
• Oversee inspection processes including CMM, GD&T, NDT.
• Drive root cause analysis and RCCM/8D/CAPA actions.
• Manage FAI and PPAP/APQP activities with AS9012/AS13002.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, supply chain to improve process capability.
• Analyze quality KPIs and drive continuous improvement to reduce scrap/rework.
• Mentor a team of quality engineers, inspectors, and technicians.

Position Overview:

A well-established precision manufacturer in the aerospace and defense sector is seeking a Director of Quality to lead its quality management systems across casting, machining, and assembly operations. This leadership role is critical to ensuring compliance with industry regulations, driving continuous improvement, and maintaining the highest standards of quality in production.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and maintain a robust Quality Management System (QMS) aligned with AS9100, ISO 9001, and Nadcap standards.
• Lead internal and external audits, customer quality interactions, and regulatory compliance initiatives.
• Oversee dimensional and metallurgical inspection processes, including CMM, GD&T, and non-destructive testing.
• Drive root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (RCCM, 8D, CAPA).
• Manage all First Article Inspection (FAI) and PPAP/APQP activities, including documentation under AS9012 and AS13002.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, operations, supply chain) to improve process capability and product quality.
• Analyze quality KPIs and initiate continuous improvement programs to reduce scrap, rework, and customer complaints.
• Mentor and develop a high-performing team of quality engineers, inspectors, and technicians.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field required; advanced degree a plus.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive quality leadership experience in aerospace, defense, or high-precision manufacturing.
• Extensive knowledge of quality standards and regulatory frameworks: AS9100, ISO 9001, Nadcap, ITAR.
• Experience managing audits and customer approvals (e.g., Boeing, Lockheed, Raytheon, Honeywell).
• Strong background in metrology, GD&T, and non-destructive testing.
• Familiar with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma methodologies, and ERP systems.
