Job summary

Alliance Resource Group is seeking a Project Controller who will lead the Construction Accounting Department and partner with the SVP of Accounting. This role oversees the accounting operations, financial reporting for all active projects, and treasury management, ensuring timely closings and accurate projections.

Responsibilities

• Oversee construction accounting department including Accounting Manager, Senior Accountants, billing, and AP
• Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting (monthly internal, quarterly external)
• Maintain financial projections including revenue and operating expenses
• Manage treasury activities and cash flow projections
• Oversee WIP tracking and reporting; collaborate with project management on cost reporting
• Develop and enforce internal controls and accounting policies and procedures

About the Role

The Project Controller will play an important role within our client's leadership team, partnering directly with the SVP of Accounting. This role will lead the Construction Accounting Department and is responsible for day-to-day details of accounting operations and financial reporting for all current projects.

Essential Functions

• Oversee work of construction accounting department including Accounting Manager, Senior Accountants, billing, and AP
• Responsible for timely and accurate financial reporting including monthly internal reporting and quarterly external reporting
• Responsible for maintenance of financial projections including revenue and operating expenses
• Treasury management
• Oversee work in progress tracking and reportingWork closely with project management on project cost reporting and cash flow projections
• Responsible for development and adherence to internal controls and accounting policies
• Collaborate with Operations Team to drive strategic initiatives

Education and Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
• Advanced degree/CPA license preferred
• 10-15 years of construction accounting experience including 5+ years in management
• Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel
• Ability to take ownership of projects with high quality results
• Required understanding of US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
• Strong understanding of construction accounting principles, including revenue recognition, project costing, and job costing.
• Yardi experience a plus
