Job description

Job Description:

The New York Post is one of America’s most iconic and recognizable news brands: delivering bold journalism, industry-leading entertainment coverage, and innovative digital experiences to millions of readers every day. With a legacy built on fearless reporting and a distinctly New York attitude, The Post has evolved far beyond its print roots to become a modern media powerhouse. Today, the New York Post Digital Network reaches millions of readers each month across an expansive portfolio of brands, including NYPost.com, PageSix.com, Decider.com, and The California Post.

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Product to lead the vision, strategy, and execution of digital product initiatives across the New York Post Media Group. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), this highly collaborative leadership role will oversee a small team of Product Managers while remaining hands‑on in the development and execution of product strategy.

This is a highly visible, stakeholder‑facing role for a product leader who understands both product and the business. The Director will partner closely with Editorial, Audience Development, Engineering, Design, Data, Revenue, Marketing, and Executive Leadership to identify opportunities, establish priorities, and build digital experiences that grow audiences, deepen engagement, and drive measurable business impact.

The ideal candidate is both a strategic product leader and a hands‑on, scrappy operator; someone who can think big and define long‑term product vision while also rolling up their sleeves to write user stories, prioritize backlogs, analyze performance metrics, solve problems creatively, and partner closely with engineering teams to move ideas from concept to market. They are equally comfortable presenting product strategies, roadmaps, and recommendations to senior stakeholders as they are working directly with their team to bring ideas to life. They thrive in a fast‑paced environment, are comfortable navigating ambiguity and competing priorities, and know how to find practical, resourceful ways to get things done without losing sight of the bigger picture.

Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Execution
  • Own the end-to-end product lifecycle across a portfolio of digital products, from discovery and prioritization through launch, optimization, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and execute product strategies and roadmaps aligned with company objectives and audience growth initiatives.
  • Translate business needs into detailed product requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and technical specifications.
  • Prioritize initiatives using customer insights, analytics, market research, and business impact.
  • Partner closely with Engineering, Design, Data, Editorial, and key stakeholders throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Define success metrics, measure product performance, and continuously iterate based on user feedback and data.
Audience Growth & User Experience
  • Collaborate with Editorial, Audience Development, Marketing, and Analytics teams to create engaging digital experiences that increase user acquisition, engagement, retention, and loyalty.
  • Drive product innovation across key consumer touchpoints, including:

  • Partner closely with developers to remove blockers and facilitate efficient product delivery.
  • Perform quality assurance and user acceptance testing prior to product launches.
  • Monitor product performance and KPIs following releases and identify opportunities for ongoing optimization.
Product Management Excellence
  • Establish and champion best practices for product management across the organization.
  • Introduce scalable product processes and frameworks that improve prioritization, collaboration, and execution.
