Salary Range: $70,000.00 To $85,000.00 Annually

Job Scope: Manage the daily operations of the Commercial Laundry Facility and assist with leading and training the team of workers to operate or tend to the washing or dry-cleaning machines to wash or dryclean industrial or household articles, such as cloth garments, blankets, bedding and draperies.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Supervising the operations team and to deliver all laundry items to required quality standards and line with company productivity and efficiency guidelines, whilst ensuring that minimal rejected linen is sent to hotels and pre-agreed weekly delivery dates are achieved.
  • Extensive customer relations experience in high volume service facility
  • Produce the weekly laundry operations plan including training, H&S, operations and QC requirements
  • Set weekly targets for operations team, ensuring there is enough staffing resource to meet required weekly production.
  • Identify, manage and rectify any quality issues notifying team as necessary. Investigate accidental damage to Linen and establish measures to keep washing process and rewashing process KPI within targets.
  • Review annual operations department budget and review deviations, implementing measures to keep operational department costs to or below budget.
  • Ensure there is a safe, clean and tidy working environment for team at all times by ensuring the team are wearing relevant PPE and handling aids for tasks, providing appropriate specialist and manual handling training.
  • Train and develop team through day-to-day coaching to ensure KPIs are met, review with Shift Leaders carry out performance reviews to support individual development and management of poor performance.
  • Oversee the provision of laundry and dry cleaning services for customers.
  • Responsible for compliance maintenance of operations.
  • Maintain a daily log of all activity in and out of laundry.
  • Manage the laundry and dry cleaning daily and weekly planning to guarantee the fastest outcome and best productivity.
  • Skilled at operating all the laundry, dry cleaning and pressing machines and assist with training the student workers and job coaches in operating them.
  • Inspect soiled articles; Responsible for the quality of cleaning and pressing of garments.
  • Manage the stocks of chemicals and packaging materials.
  • Ability to use Laundry and other household equipment and electrical appliances.
  • Ability to skillfully operation all laundry/dry cleaning equipment including, but not limited to; washing machines/tunnels, dryers, folders, pressers, etc.
  • Oversee laundering processes and the volume of soap, detergent, water, bleach, starch, and other additives used.
  • Examine and sort into lots articles to be cleaned, according to color, fabric, dirt content, and cleaning technique required.
  • Inspect soiled articles to determine sources of stains, to locate color imperfections, and to identify items requiring special treatment.
  • Determine spotting procedures and proper solvents, based on fabric and stain types.
  • Test fabrics in inconspicuous places to determine whether solvents will damage dyes or fabrics.
  • Pre-soak, sterilize, scrub, spot-clean, and dry contaminated or stained articles, using neutralizer solutions.
  • Apply safe chemicals to neutralize the effects of solvents.
  • Iron or press articles and fabrics using hand irons or pressing machines.
  • Fluency in Spanish helpful

Required professional qualifications, training and experience

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Professional Laundry and/or Dry Cleaning Company.
  • Excellent leadership skills and experience in managing a team of workers, keeping them motivated and under effective control.
  • Ability to work multiple shifts including nights and weekends
  • Good communication and writing skills.
  • Develop, train and mentor leaders, supervisors, etc.
  • The ability to identify the educational needs of others, developing formal educational or training programs or classes, and teaching or instructing others.
  • Knowledge of both customer and corporate/ laundry operations/machines and techniques.
  • Experienced in operating and handling all different types of laundry, dry clean and pressing machines.
  • Expert in treating all types of different garments and knowledge of how to handle and treat all kinds of stains while keeping the garments in new condition.
  • Expert in all types of laundry chemicals and packaging materials.
  • Expert in supply chain management, assuring effective management for all chemicals and packaging stocks.
  • Good leadership skills and experience in managing a big team of workers, keeping them motivated and under effective control.
  • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions
  • At least 3-5 years of experience required
  • Strong working knowledge laundry mechanical systems
  • Great communication skills, professional demeanor and appearance
  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and concentrate on detail in a fast-paced work environment
  • Must be able to follow basic safety procedures and precautions due to physical risks
  • Demonstrates interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Able to work in a team environment and welcome feedback and direction
  • Capable of standing for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to frequently reach, bend, stoop, climb up and down stairs, walk, and carry multiple objects
  • Ability to work in physical capacity in hot environments
  • Flexible schedule to include day shift, night shift, weekends and holidays
