CORE Safety Group in Chattanooga, TN seeks a strategic Director of Operations & Accounting to oversee financial operations and drive operational excellence across the organization.

You will lead inventory, fixed assets, GL, payroll, and financial reporting, partner with executives on budgets and KPIs, and ensure timely month-end closes while strengthening internal controls.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting and operational leadership experience.
  • CPA, CMA, or MBA is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.

Responsibilities

  • Inventory and fixed asset management leadership.
  • Ensure inventory accuracy through controls and counts.
  • Lead day-to-day operational and administrative functions to drive efficiency and profitability.
  • Develop, implement, and improve operational policies and internal controls.
  • Partner with executives to set strategic goals, budgets, and long-term initiatives.
  • Monitor KPIs and recommend continuous improvements.
  • Direct all accounting operations including GL, AP/AR, payroll, inventory, job costing, and reporting.
  • Ensure timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end closes.

CORE Safety Group is a nationwide safety management and loss control consulting firm. Seeking a strategic and hands-on Director of Operations & Accounting to oversee the organization's financial operations while driving operational excellence across the business.

Job Responsibilities
  • Inventory & Fixed Asset Management Lead
  • Ensure inventory accuracy through effective controls, reconciliations, and physical inventory counts.
  • Lead the day-to-day operational and administrative functions of the organization to ensure efficiency, accountability, and profitability.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve operational policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Partner with executive leadership to establish strategic goals, annual budgets, and long-term business initiatives.
  • Monitor key operational and financial performance indicators (KPIs) and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Direct all accounting operations, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Inventory Accounting, Job Costing, and Financial Reporting.
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting and operational leadership experience.
  • Strong experience with inventory accounting, job costing, and project accounting.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of fixed asset accounting and capital project management.
  • Experience managing Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and Financial Reporting.
  • Experience with multi-state sales tax compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.
  • Experience with QuickBooks or comparable ERP/accounting software.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
