Job description
Overview

Corista is a leader in digital pathology software, delivering advanced solutions that enable hospitals, healthcare systems, and researchers to transform the management, sharing, and interpretation of pathology data. Our mission is to accelerate innovation in patient care by providing robust, secure, and scalable platforms for digital pathology.

Position Overview

Corista is seeking a dynamic, strategic, and highly motivated Director of Operations to oversee and optimize the company’s operational functions. This executive-level role is responsible for driving operational excellence across finance, HR, compliance, vendor management, and investor relations.

The ideal candidate will thrive in a small, resourceful company environment, where initiative, ownership, and problem-solving are essential. This is not a “maintenance” role — we’re looking for someone excited to take the reins of operations, make it their own, and put their stamp on a growing company that’s making major strides in digital pathology.

You’ll have one part-time team member supporting you but will truly lead and shape the operations department, building on what exists and creating new systems to support our next stage of growth.

This position offers remote flexibility (with occasional visits to Boston headquarters) and a starting salary of $185,000+, commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic oversight of all core operational areas, including finance, HR, compliance, and vendor management.
  • Manage financial operations, including forecasting, reporting, and budgeting; oversee the company’s cap table and investor relations.
  • Lead investor communications, annual K-1 distribution, and board-level reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate governance standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
  • Partner with executive leadership on strategic planning, budget development, and operational execution.
  • Manage vendor and partner relationships, including contract negotiations, renewals, and performance oversight.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, systems, and tools to enhance efficiency and scalability.
  • Serve as the primary point of accountability for operational performance and risk management.
  • Mentor and manage one part-time operations team member, ensuring alignment and accountability across tasks.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or relevant advanced degree strongly preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive leadership experience in operations, finance, or business management (experience within healthcare, life sciences, or SaaS strongly preferred).
  • Strong financial acumen with expertise in forecasting, reporting, HR management, and cap table administration.
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional initiatives in a growth-oriented or entrepreneurial environment.
  • Proven ability to take initiative, build systems from the ground up, and thrive in a company with lean teams and evolving processes.
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and leadership skills, with the ability to engage effectively with executive leadership, investors, and external stakeholders.
  • Comfortable wearing multiple hats and making sound decisions in a fast-paced, resource-conscious environment.
Why Join Corista
  • Play a pivotal role in advancing digital pathology and shaping the future of healthcare technology.
  • Take full ownership of the operations function — this is your opportunity to build, refine, and lead.
  • Collaborate directly with senior executives in a mission-driven, innovative environment.
  • Competitive compensation ($185K+) and comprehensive benefits package.
  • Hybrid/remote work flexibility with headquarters in the Boston, MA area.
