Job summary

Wellpath is seeking a Director of Nursing to lead policy development, ensure regulatory compliance, and support professional development for nursing staff. The role requires strategic oversight of clinical operations, collaboration with the Medical Director, and a commitment to high standards of patient care.

The DON will oversee budgeting, staffing, and quality initiatives across facilities, ensuring safe clinical practices and timely, compassionate care for patients served by Wellpath.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
  • 2 years of supervisory experience in an acute setting recommended.
  • Current RN licensure within the state of employment.
  • CPR certification required.
  • ER, Communicable Disease, and Medical/Surgical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations and manage budgets, policies and procedures to align with facility goals.
  • Organize service delivery, manage resources, and collaborate with departments, facilities, patients, families and visitors.
  • Lead quality improvement activities, supervise staff, and provide nursing expertise as a resource.

How you make a difference

In their role, the Director of Nursing (DON) is accountable for developing and implementing nursing policies and procedures that align with best practices and meet regulatory requirements. They work closely with the Medical Director to promote high standards of care and support the professional development of nursing staff to provide quality care to patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversees daily operations and manages budgets, policies, and procedures to align with facility goals and objectives.
  • Organizes service delivery, manage resources, and collaborate with other departments, facilities, persons served, families, and visitors.
  • Leads quality improvement activities, provides direct supervision, and serves as a resource and consultant to nursing staff.
  • Monitors safety issues, evaluate service delivery and staff growth, and adhere to the organization's Code of Conduct.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of risk management, clinical precautions, infection control, fall prevention, utilization of special procedures, environmental checks, fire disaster procedures, and alternatives to use with regards to seclusion/restraint methods.
Additional Details
  • Full-Time (1.0 FTE)
  • 40 hours per week
  • Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
  • Work hours and days may be adjusted as needed to meet operational and organizational needs
  • No scheduled holiday rotation
  • Maintains 24/7 accountability and availability for nursing operations, clinical issues, staffing concerns, emergencies, and organizational needs.
  • Provides strategic leadership, oversight, and direction for nursing services to ensure quality care, regulatory compliance, staff engagement, and operational excellence.
  • Serves as a key resource for after-hours consultation, decision-making, and resolution of urgent operational issues as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements

Education

  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing

Experience

  • 2 years of supervisory experience in an acute setting recommended
  • Emergency Room, Communicable Disease, with Medical and Surgical experience preferred

Licenses/Certifications

  • Have and maintain current licensure as a Registered Nurse within the state of employment.
  • Obtain and maintain CPR certification
