Job summary

MediLodge of Lansing seeks a Director of Nursing (RN) to lead the facility's nursing program and drive the highest quality of care across all units.

You will supervise nursing staff, ensure clinical protocols are followed, manage staffing and budget, and participate in professional development and survey readiness. A valid RN license in Michigan and CPR certification are required, with at least three years in a director/assistance director role.

Qualifications

• RN license in the state employed (Michigan)
• Three years’ experience as Director of Nursing or equivalent supervisory nursing role
• CPR certification
• BSN degree preferred

Responsibilities

• Plans and guides the professional development of nursing staff.
• Rounds on unit daily and ensures clinical protocols and nursing policies are followed.
• Develops and manages systems to assure clinical competencies and training needs.
• Performs staffing functions including interviewing, hiring, disciplining and evaluating employees.
• Plans and facilitates meetings to address resident care issues.
• Reviews time sheets for payroll accuracy.
• Participates in recruiting, retention, development and continuing education of nursing staff.
• Addresses survey and care-standards issues proactively.
• Manages department budget and ensures expenditure remains within limits.
• Ensures coordination with pharmacy, dietary and physician consults in a timely manner.
• Acts as Center lead in the absence of the Administrator.
• Performs other tasks as assigned.

Summary

Qualifications

Education:

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred.

Licenses/Certification

• Valid RN license in the state employed.
• Valid CPR certification.

Experience

• Three years’ experience as a Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing, or equivalent supervisory nursing experience.

Job Functions

• Performs general management functions such as interviewing, hiring, disciplining and evaluating employees.
• Plans and facilitates meetings and committees to address resident care issues.
• Review time sheets for accuracy before payroll.
• Participates in developing, implementing and evaluating programs that promote the recruitment, retention, development and continuing education of nursing staff members.
• Participates in Employee Recognition Program.
• Initiates studies to evaluate effectiveness of nursing services in relation to their objectives and costs.
• Develops and manages staffing schedular system and nurse on call system while ensuring adequate nursing staff are available based on facility/census requirements..
• Develops the department budget for approval, monitors expenses, and remains within budget.
• Investigate and resolve residents/family/employee concerns.
• Pro-actively addresses survey and/or standards of care issues.
• Collect data to compile reports in a timely manner, and to meet deadlines.
• Assure Pharmacy, dietary, physician consults are followed in timely manner.
• Assumes complete responsibilities for the Center in absence of Administrator.
• Performs other tasks as assigned.
