Job summary

Shadelands Post Acute in Walnut Creek, CA, is seeking a Director of Staff Development (DSD) – LVN for a full-time role. You will develop and oversee staff education, ensure regulatory compliance, and support high-quality resident care.

The position collaborates with DON and Administration to maintain excellence in training and patient outcomes. The role requires CA LVN/LPN or RN licensure, nursing education experience in long-term care, and strong leadership and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current, valid California LVN/LPN or RN license in good standing.
• BSN preferred.
• Minimum 1 year direct patient-care in long-term care with 1 year education program planning/ evaluation.
• 2+ years' experience preferred in long-term care or skilled nursing.
• Experience in staff development, infection prevention, or nursing leadership desirable.
• Strong knowledge of nursing regulations and training standards.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate recruiting and hiring of staff.
• Coordinate employment documentation and payroll/benefits processes.
• Develop professional relationships with residents, families, and employees.
• Plan, conduct, document, and coordinate in-service education programs.
• Prepare annual in-service schedule and monthly calendar.
• Maintain in-service and education records per regulations.
• Provide direct resident/patient care as needed and supervise staff.
• Coordinate infection control surveillance and assist with surveys.
