Job summary

Deer Park Health & Rehabilitation Center in Nebo, NC is seeking a compassionate Director of Nursing (DON) to lead our Nursing Services Department. The DON will direct, plan, and coordinate nursing care in accordance with federal, state, and local standards while fostering a supportive, team-oriented environment.

Qualifications

• Current RN license (North Carolina, unrestricted).
• Nursing degree from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum 2 years of supervisory/management experience in nursing.
• Strong knowledge of long-term care regulations, nursing practices, and clinical compliance.
• Current CPR certification.
• Proven leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate the Nursing Services Department to ensure quality care and compliance.
• Oversee daily operations, staff performance, and adherence to policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
• Participate in admissions decisions, management team meetings, QAPI, and facility committees.
• Supervise nursing schedules to ensure adequate coverage and budget compliance.
• Recruit, train, evaluate, and develop nursing staff, promoting teamwork and professional growth.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, physicians, consultants, and families to ensure resident well-being.
• Lead infection control, safety, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Assist in survey preparation, compliance, and plan of correction processes.
• Serve as Administrator designee when needed.
• Provide direct nursing care as necessary.
