Job summary

The Tulsa Center for Behavioral Health (TCBH) is seeking a Director of Nursing to lead the Nursing Department, overseeing planning, organizing, and directing staff to meet goals and improve patient care. The role requires an active RN license and substantial supervisory/managerial experience.

Open to full-time work with standard hours; annual salary around $110,000. OSBI background check and travel as needed may be required. Located in Tulsa, OK.

Qualifications

  • Valid permanent Oklahoma RN license or eNLC-recognized license.
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing required; Master’s preferred for senior leadership.
  • Two-plus years of supervisory experience and two-plus years in managerial/educational roles.

About the Position: The TCBH Nursing Department is hiring for a Director of Nursing that would be responsible for management duties including planning, organizing, and integrating various functions such as directing staff in meeting goals and objectives of the facility.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience: Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of possession of a valid permanent Oklahoma license as a registered nurse as approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing, or Registered Nurse License recognized by the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC) and four years of professional nursing experience, two years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity and one additional year of professional nursing experience in a managerial or consultative capacity or providing consultation and educational services in a specialized field or program plus two additional years of professional nursing experience in an administrative capacity. OR A bachelor’s degree in nursing and three years of professional nursing experience, two years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity and one additional year of professional nursing experience in a managerial or consultative capacity or providing consultation and educational services in a specialized field or program plus two additional years of professional nursing experience in an administrative capacity. OR A master’s degree and two years of professional nursing experience in a supervisory capacity and one additional year of professional nursing experience in a managerial or consultative capacity or providing consultation and educational services in a specialized field or program plus two additional years of professional nursing experience in an administrative capacity.

Special Requirements: Applicants must be able to pass an OSBI background check. Applicants must be willing and able to fulfill any job‑related travel normally associated with this position and as such have a valid driver’s license. Upon a conditional offer of employment, Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services applicants must submit to a physical examination and shall meet the physical examination requirements of occasionally lifting/carrying 50 pounds and able to push and pull a maximum force of 25 pounds. Upon appointment, incumbents designated by the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services shall complete certification in one of the following required Departmental sponsored training in case management: Certified Behavioral Health Case Manager – Adult; Certified Behavioral Health Case Manager – Child, Adolescent and Family; or Certified Behavioral Health Case Manager – Dual Certification.

About us:

The Tulsa Center for Behavioral Health (TCBH) is a psychiatric hospital accredited by The Joint Commission, dedicated to delivering evidence-based, patient-centered care. TCBH provides a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment that supports recovery and enhances quality of life for individuals and the community. The facility serves adults aged 18 and older who are experiencing a mental health crisis, with or without co‑occurring substance use disorders, and who are medically stable. In response to the increasing need for mental health services in our community, TCBH is being replaced by a new facility, the Oklahoma Psychiatric Care Center (OPCC). Situated in the OSU Academic Medical District in downtown Tulsa, this modern psychiatric hospital will feature 106 inpatient beds, an expanded residency program, and an enhanced range of behavioral health services. Construction of the OPCC is currently in progress.
